Wouldn't that be a larger sacrifice?

*heavy sigh*
Shouldn't he be in Hell FOREVER?

Quite the conundrum. Either He didn't pay the price that unrepentant sinners will pay or God is unjust or the belief in eternal torment for the wicked is a flawed doctrine.

*heavy sigh* It's a flawed doctrine my friend.

Certainly, Jesus was in Hell after his death and before his Resurrection. He didn't stay because he had a divine nature that conceived him without sins. He sacrificed himself for our sins, because humans inherited the original sin when Eve decided to eat from the Tree of Good and Evil. He stayed in Hell during three days to redeem our sins, which was the sacrifice. On the other hand his resurrection was necessary to prove the others that his teachings were true.
It's something believed not only by Protestants, but also by Catholics and some other religions.

He might have been in Hell forever. Just like in Heaven, in Hell time does not exist. So, how long did three days last to Jesus.
The prophecy indicated that our Savior would die for us and be ressurrected. Jesus fulfilled that prophecy.
Those of you that answered that people go Hell for sinning may want to pick up the Bible before you are so quick to condemn. A sin is a sin whether in thought or deed. Therefore, that logic would dictate that all of us are going to Hell.
God sacrificed his Son and Himself on that cross that day. He died as a man and felt all of the pain of a man, otherwise his sufferring would have meant nothing.
I have a son and I would not sacrifice him for all of you. Not because I don't love you, but because of how much my son means to me. I would be willing to give my life for any of you, without even meeting you. That's actually an easy thing to imagine. People do it everyday. Some of those folks in Virginia died trying to protect strangers or people they barely knew. Sacrificing your own child is a vastly different thing.
So, why would God sacrifice his only child if he couldn't save every single one of us?
Maybe, Hell is empty.

He's been there and back -- that's one of many reasons Jesus is qualified to be the one and only sacrifice for the sins of mankind. Now he sits at the right hand of the Father - God. He is the only bridge back to the one and only Holy God. Are you interested in finding out what it's like to have a relationship with Jesus or were you just wondering where he's been all this time?

How could HELL be a GLORY for SACRIFICE? Jesus descended to Hell to PROCLAIM VICTORY over death, Hell and the grave, but was resurrected and ASCENDED to the Father in a glorified body fit for the Kingdom of Heaven (which is why he warned the women and disciples NOT to touch Him when they saw Him that morning)! What glory could there ever be in eternal damnation (which is Hell's purpose)?

This is why the RESURRECTION IS SO IMPORTANT!!
If you do not believe that he died and THEN ROSE AGAIN! That means, he defeated death! Of course He is not living in hell! He defeated it, because HE IS GOD! This was the ONLY way we could pass from death to life, through God- God is the only one who can defeat death!
It is simple....The gospel of Jesus Christ is very simple, and beautiful and so important---one must never leave out the resurrection of Christ!
It is only through Jesus Christ we can be saved- because He is God, as the Bible says He is--(Colossians 2:9, Colossians 1, John 1:1, John 10, Revelation 1:8)
He was the ONE sacrifice, no one else could of done this. Without Him we would all be on our way to hell- but those who have believed and put their faith in Him, they are set free from hell, and are given eternal life in heaven with HIM! He is ALIVE!!!

p.s yes the verse that says he descended into the lower parts of the earth, was to share the gospel with those who were there who had believed in HIs coming, but died before He came, so they could receive salvation from Him, He let them know His work was finished! He took them to Heaven.

The penalty was death, not hell. Our sin is the reason we have human bodies that deteriorate until death. Hell is for those who don't accept Jesus' payment for their sins. God said Hell was a place prepared for the devil and his angels who turned against Him. It became a place for those who turned against Him on earth as well. God offered His Son as an atonement for our sins. If we don't accept the offer than there is no other way for atonenment. If we could atone for it ourselves, than Jesus would never have had to die such a horrible death.

I think you need to consider what size means when dealing with infinite. We are here on earth for a short time compared with infinity. So what why would an infinite penalty need to be paid for a finite crime?

Great question. Points to the silliness of believing that his death and resurrection (demonstration) is related to millions of little people not burning in Hell after death if they just "BELIEVE." Believe what??? Fear not. Nothing that you have done makes your life unredeemable. You have purpose - he demonstrated the psychological path to remembering it.

Jesus Christ died for out sins (so that we could be forgiven), not for His sins. People go to Hell because of their sins not because of other' sins.
