My father-in-law is a minister and I want to make a sign for his office door with one side reading he is in and the other for when he is out. I want it to be funny and clever, but clean and appropriate. The piece of wood I am using is carved in the shape of fish, so i'm thinking of maybe incorporating the verse about being fishers of men, but how to get that to relate to whether the minister is in or out of his office, I can't seem to figure out. Only helpful, sincere and serious suggestions here, this is important to me.

Is this too obvious? When he is in he is a fisher of men. When he is out he is Gone Fishing.
The first thing I though of was a question to Colonel Potter from the old TV show MASH. He said when he gets back to Missouri he would make a sign which said on one side "Doc Potter" and the other side would say "Gone Fishing".

this is great and delivers a scriptural message, gone fishin, then include the actual scripture and verse of be ye fishers of men...

How about on the "out" side you put "Gone Fishing" and the verse
Then on the "in" side you could put "Welcome" and reference a verse like Mark 9:37 "Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me."
