and the bible is from God, why wouldn't people in biblical times know about bacteria? I mean, why wouldn't God tell them?

Why not issue a warning in the bible, something like; " I god created microscopic organisms that can kill you, so wash your hands before you eat".
What does the limited knowledge of the people in biblical times matter, if the creator of the universe was the author of the bible?

P.S You can call my question stupid (like the guy who answered my last question) if you can't find a logical response.

I understand Lev. had laws pertaining to food that do seem to have knowledge of bacteria. But those are laws that can be made from observing, i.e. my grandma ate shellfish and dropped dead, so don’t eat the shellfish. That was not something that required a god to say in a roundabout way with out giving a reason.

You obviously haven't read Leviticus. God clearly warns the Israelites not to eat uncooked meat / blood. Yeah, bacteria isn't mentioned, but the Israelites are steered away from the consequences of it.

Most of us can't explain electricity or microwaves, but we've been told not to stick our tongue in an electrical socket, don't put a cat in the microwave oven. If we've done either, we have suffered the consequences. Do we have to understand the physics to follow the rules?

Since Leviticus, man has made amazing discoveries about the biology, physics, aerodynamics, etc BEHIND the laws that God gave so long ago.Key word, discoveries. Man has grown as a result. God knew what He was doing then as He does now.

Many ancient peoples had many diatary laws not the least of were the Jews! These were often learned the hard way! God in designing the Garden invironment provided everything for man & we blew it. So, now "dying we die" & things started rotting! The Egyptians new of the antiseptic value of honey for example & that which they stored for the afterlife is still perfectly edible today! Did these peoples call it "Bacteria" etc.??? No, but it doesn't mean that they didn't know what was happening. For example, I know for a fact that many kids spend good money for all kinds of Zit treatments today, not knowing that if they just treated the Zits with honey, they would be gone tommorrow!!! The Jewish "Law" did in fact prohibit eating without washing ones hands! Christ said about this in Mat. 15:1-11; v.2&3 "Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread." And He answered and said to them," And why do you yourselves transgress the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition?" v.10&11 And after He called the multitude to Him, He said to them "Hear, and understand. Not that which enters into the mouth defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man." OBTW not a stupid question, especially if one learns from it??? John

The bubonic plague killed one half of the population of England. Some entire villages were destroyed by the disease. However, it was evident for all to see that the Jewish people were escaping the plaque. Why did they escape? Because some 3000 years before bacteria was discovered, the Creator gave instructions which are recorded in the Old Testament book of Leviticus that prevent the spread of communicable disease. Those instructions require strict cleanliness and quarantines, and cleansing following contact with the sick or the dead. The Jews followed those instructions, and their lives were spared.

You have to remember the books of the Bible were written by man and in several councils of Nicaea certain books were chosen by men (or a group of them that thought they knew what they were doing) and compiled to be the Bible we know today.

If they could not make sense of what was written they threw it out. So God may have sent the message, but it may have gotten tossed because it wasn't understood.

That is not saying that is actually what happened, it's just a guess. I suspect the Bible was (holy) ghost written by men and only man's understanding was inputted. As they did not understand germs and bacteria it was not entered into the books.

Or it could be classed as "things unseen".

In my humble opinion, bacteria is around us,it is just our immune system is not strong unless we are expose to germs,I grew up in a village, that soap is only for washing clothes,I saw people was their hands w/out soap,my grandpa lives to be 105 and Grandma lives to 89 and they take a bath once a week. Thanks for telling me ,that your question is Stupid ,God gave you mind or brain to use in this universe,so use it with great potential to wash or not to wash before you eat,Creator of the Universe is not the author of the bible, this is a logical (common sense) response.

There were many warnings and "laws" to the Jewish people in the past precisely (and we know this now with scientific advancements) to prevent disease and illness. They did have the custom of washing before meals, they were prohibited (and most still observe this now) from eating seafood because they did not have the proper cleaning mechanisms to remove uncleansed parts (and lets face it, lobsters are the "cockaroach of the sea" b/c they're filter feeders-no matter how tasty they are!).
So, in short, God didn't just outright say "hey, you see that person sneezing over there? that's going to make you sick" but there were many laws, which, if observed, did help....
we still haven't uncovered all the questions concerning life on earth, we're just doing our best...doesn't mean God doesn't exist, doesn't mean he's evil and just watching us from afar, laughing.
Seriously, look around you. Look for beauty; you'll surely find it.
God bless!

You are not logical at all. You are ranting. Did God tell the people about armadillos? They existed, but only in North America. Or polar bears, etc. God did not write the bible, men did. We are still finding new species today. According to you, God should tell us about these new life forms. Did he tell them about the new world? Did he explain the solar system? No!!! If you can find anyone who he has told, let me know and I will apologize. So your question is still stupid.

People didn't know about bacteria. The bible doesn't mention it. That's because people wrote the bible, not some God as we are led to believe.

You mean things like - wash before you eat, tear down your house if it has a mold infestation, don't eat food that is unclean - that sort of stuff?

If so - read Leviticus, Exodus, Numbers and Deuteronomy for these and many more things.

Don't stick your tongue in a light socket. Do you need to know why?
