I've been eating a lot of carrots lately. I usually carry a bag of carrot sticks in my purse for when I get hungry. Beats buying the candy bar. My friend told me that carrots turn your skin orange. I sorta don't believe her but I was just wondering if it was true

LOL Yes they do, but you have to eat a lot of them. I doubt if a bag that size will do it, though. It could over time. I turned orange for a while, I was juicing two to three pounds of carrots a day and by the end of two weeks I was a very nice shade of orange. Took about a month to go away. LOL Really got overdosed on the carotene,

Carrots, if you eat a LOT of them can definitely turn your skin a little yellow/orange. No big deal though, it won't hurt you and better than filling up on candy. I have had this happen. When I had my 4th baby I developed a huge craving for carrots.

If you eat lots and lots of carrots at once then it can make your skin slightly orange but not completely orange, obviously, because people would start eating carrots to get a fake tan

I take alot of beta Carotene pills every day (I am under a Holistic doctor's care) -- that is CONCENTRATED carrot juice and oils-- people admire my "suntan"-- it's the carotene in my skin.

I would think that unless you ate several pounds of carrots every day nothing would happen - - but even if you did I doubt you'd turn orange.

Seems to me I read that many years ago, but that it took eating a LOT of carrots. I really don't think you need to worry.

Completely true, as a baby my friend was fed too much pureed carrots and started to turn an orangey color.

If you eat an excessive amount of them, yes, they can. They can also turn the whites of your eyes orange. It's the beta carotene in them that does it. But not to worry, the affect goes away once the level of betacarotene in you body goes down.
