I visited the dentist today as I have been having real tooth trouble recently. I thought my teeth were becoming sensitive so I changed to Sensodyne toothpaste. I too am left feeling like my tongue is burnt constantly. I was trying to think back to when I could have burnt it, but as I`ve been in pain I haven`t been drinking hot drinks. I never even considered that it could be the toothpaste! Thanks for making me aware!

I absolutely love using Sensodyne Extra Whitening Toothpaste but I too am experiencing the burning of my tongue, but it's just the tip of it and after I rinse real good it goes away. My problem is so bizarre I've never heard of it before. I've asked a lot of people about it and I praying someone here can help me. One person said they think it's the toothpaste protecting my teeth but I don't think so. Here's the problem--at night I brush my teeth before I go to bed and when I get up in the morning, on my bottom teeth at the base of them, there's a stringy like substance from one side to the other. And on the top teeth, it's there too. Not as much but some. I pull it off with my fingers because I don't want it to get all in twined in my toothbrush. And the stringy stuff is even on the inside of my jaws. It's all white like the toothpaste. So I brush and so on about my business and about 2 or 3 hours later, I notice the stringy things again. So I start pulling them out again. There's quiet a lot of them. They don't hurt, or smell or anything like that. They are time consuming to get off especially first thing in the morning. I've been using this toothpaste for about 5 or 6 months and like I said, I really do like it and I've noticed a big difference in my teeth looking whiter. Can anyone tell me what's going on??? Thank you and have a Blessed Day.

If these side effects are from the toothpaste, simply change it.

yes, i used to use aquafresh toothpaste- the whitening one, and i often got lke a rash around my mouth- my skin went lke red and it looked lke i had chapped lips. my lips and tongue used to tingle and sometimes it like hurt as well. so i changed my toothpaste and the side effects went, so i suggest just simply changing your toothpaste! hope it goes away x

Well, Crest White Strips do work if you use them. You do have to use them 2 times a day for about 30 min. My teeth are extremely sensitive and the White Strips did make my teeth very sensitive. I also recommend using Crest Vivid White tooth paste. It is supposed to whiten your teeth and also put a protective coat on your teeth to resist stains. Also, my secret is to drink everything through a straw. If you do drink through a straw the colored liquid won't hit the front of your teeth and stain them. Acidic foods will also stain your teeth such as ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, etc. Some people also recommend getting a fluoride treatment before bleaching, and say it helps reduce sensitivity. I personally don't think it helped with mine.
