It is directed to Christians because the Bible is the Book for Christians. The passage should be known by all Christians. But also, if majority are Christians in the World, Still what does that Tell You.

Few acknowledge God...many acknowledge their religion and the Bible as taught to them by their religion.....

But, they miss the point...they are seeking favor with others, with religions, with quoting memorized rhetorical scripture...and not seeking God's face...

I think many will be surprised...when they stand before God....and God says why did you not worship me...you worshipped the Bible...your denomination...the God you were told to believe in...but, you never sought my face.

For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves” (Matthew 7:13-15). The one way to heaven is not easy to find. Many people, deceived by false prophets, (The Cults) try to enter
heaven the wrong way. Their end is hell.

Most are only "Christian" in the cultural sense. Ask them if they even believe in hell, or the resurrection, or that the atonement of the cross is the only escape from being judged for our sins (much less if they are living their life as though they believe such things). You'll have to have a very mushy definition of "Christian" to cast your net so widely. As Tim points out, Jesus insists that many who call him Lord will discover that they have either been in the ditch beside the narrow road or that they have gotten the entirely wrong road.

it means many take the easy road in life, and forget about God. that's the road to destruction. The small gate is the road to heaven, and very few find it. It is a hard road, with much suffering.

That scripture tells me that it is quite easy to find the path of sinfulness...the rate that will lead to our demise is large, easy to see, easy to pass through.
However, the path that God has prepared for us is the narrow gate. It is not always easy to see (esp. today where it is so easy to get caught up in un-Godly behavior). He is telling us to enter the narrow gate and be with Him.
That gives me hope! It also reminds me of the saying that what is right is not always popular and what is popular is not always right!
+God+ bless you as well!

...I am missing something. In the passage you cite, it says many go down to destruction, and only a few find life.
...Where is a Christian majority mentioned or implied by this passage?
...It says many will go to destruction - of course, those who do are those who reject the Lord Jesus Christ. It also says that few will find life in Christ, because very few actually trust in Him; few are actually born again.

Wow. That was very insightful. We should ask ourselves everyday if we are doing anything that would hinder us from being one of the few to enter into the Gate. If there is, than we need to get rid of it!

Not all who say "Lord, Lord" will enter His kingdom, for He will say to some who profess to know God, "Depart from Me you workers of iniquity, for I have never known you!".
