I saw this dog a few weeks ago and the only way i can describe it is that it looked like it had dreadlocks. It was a very large black dog. I overheard the owner say what type of dog it was but I can't remember what it was, I do remember that he said it was a rare type of dog... and i believe (but i'm not sure) that he got it from England... any ideas on what type of dog this is?

It could have been a Puli, or a Bergamasco, they have dreadlocks.

Komondors are WHITE.

A Puli is a black dog with a corded coat:

Komondors look much the same but are larger and should only be white or off-white.

Sounds like a Puli, they are bred for sheep herding. They are not rare, but they certainly are not a very common breed.

Sounds like a puli to me. The corded coat is great for snowy climates. It keeps them warm, but snow won't stick to it.
