I just got done reading "Frankenstein"...possibly my favorite book ever...and it deals with this particular question. So how about it, what should a creator do for his creation? Especially when said creation is a thinking being. Is the creator responsible for its happiness, health, and general well being? Should a created being revere its creator merely because he created it? Is it the creator's fault if the being is imperfect and inclined toward evil?

Depends upon what the creator intended his creation to be. We create children everyday. Are you going to raise them to be socially inept co-dependants by coddling them every step of their development, or are you going to set them free to explore and grow into healthy adults? (There needs to be a balance of nurturing and freedom, but it is hardship that provides growth, not protection.) The issue of reverence is tied to respect -- if you are somebody worthy of respect, then the creation will revere the creator. Only if the creator has the capacity to know exactly what needs to be done to raise a healthy creation can their be any blame (in the case of god, since he is omniscient and omnipotent, blame is easily given.)

To provide a Way to Him. Make it free from works.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. - Jesus to Nicodemus in John 3:16

In this one quote is the encapsulation of the entire Bible, as well as the answer to to your question.

Reading Frankenstein in comparison to God is somewhat like reading my first abc book in comparison with rocket science.

I get angry with God alot. I think he should have been alot more active in our growing. Parents are supposed to love their children and teach them. We were given everything we could ever want or need on this planet, but we should have been loved and taught. We are like ferril children, I think.
