What might our current administration want to do about Chavez?

He is outspoken against the United States, he is threatening foreign petroleum investments, its become a socialist state.

Personally I am not concerned about Venezuela but I am curious if the current administration will add them to the Axis of Evil and or even take steps to "Restore Democracy"

Where do you think U.S.-Venezuelan relations are headed?

Chavez has made it very clear that he is against the government of the United States, which, in 2002, financed and supported a coup against him. Captured leaders of this coup admitted to recieving marching orders from the United States (in particular the CIA), that if they could secure Venesuela's government (and by proxy its national oil reserves), they would be richly rewarded with Oil company executive positions and perks.

The people of Venesuela rebelled against the Coup and reinstalled Chavez, then relected him in one of the largest landslides in their history. Chavez is rightfully pissed at the Bush administration and our government. However he has made attempts to reach out to the people of the United States, one example was aid he sent from Venesuela to the people of New Orleans following the Hurricane Katrina disaster, ironically, the aid he sent reached New Orleans almost two days before Bush arrived for his photo-op!

The future of U.S.-Venezuelan relations are not bright, we have a significant portion of our population brainwashed into thinking he is a "dictator" and the media isn't helping alleiviate this misconception. I wouldn't be surpirsed if another warmonger gets elected in the next few decades and decides to "liberate" Venezuela like we "liberated" Iraq.

I think they'll stay about the same. Venezuela is not a threat and Chavez is only playing a political game. Chavez has to have someone to rail against, and in that part of the world they still remember what happened at the Falklands between the British and Argentina. The French and the Germans do business with everybody and anybody, so he can't risk offending them or he loses business. And the rest of the world he isn't concerned with because they aren't that close to his region or have very little impact there. So naturally Chavez has to go against the U.S. We are the biggest dog on the block after all, and just like in the cartoons, the little dog is always snapping at our heels.

Leave Venezuela to it's own devices. Chavez is only as good as his oil revenue before he is deposed for being an idiot.

We try to make it easy on the left.

If they had to undermine more than one war at a time, they might get confused and actually end up helping out.
