Try using System Restore - Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore - this may bring the file back if you restore the computer to the date you definitely last had it (or earlier). If no joy it is still not impossible to get the file, it is just very difficult - no files are ever truly "deleted" and will be somewhere on your hard drive. The more you use your computer, the more that get written over with new items so stop using the computer and take it to a professional who can retrieve such deleted files from the depths of your hard disk. Try the System Restore first though - it has worked for me in the past.

Do you have windows?

Did you delete the file from your Recycle Bin?

If you do have windows and you did not delete it from the Recycle Bin or empty the Recycle Bin, here's what you do:

1. Open the Recycle Bin.
2. Find the file you deleted.
3. Click the file to highlight it.
4. Right click the file to bring up a menu.
5. Choose Restore.
6. Close the Recycle Bin.
7. Find your file on your computer where it was before it got deleted.

If you deleted it from the recycling bin, it's gone. Sometimes though, if it was originally in your "my documents" folder, you can find it in the "C:documents and settings/ account name/" folder. Don't ask me why, it's just a thing windows does sometimes. Finiky like that.

Hope this helps,

Programs like 'tuneup' (you can download a free trial) will run an undelete for you. Just try to not install anything or run anything that will write to your harddrive. If you are quick about it you should be able to save most of what you lost.
