as long as the tattooer sterilizes their equipment its safe, you also need to make sure you do the proper aftercare. you usually ahve to wait around a year or so afterwards to donate blood (same thing with getting piercings). i'm not sure about the pain reliever shot thing but it sounds a little weird. and i have heard people say that some colors hurt more than others, probably because areas with lighter colors need to be gone over more than once.
if you're thinking about getting one, realllly make sure its a design you want on you forever. also think about the placement of it. think about where you will be in 10, 15, 20 years and whether you would want that tattoo to show. good luck!

It is important to recognise that in terms of your health, there are some possible health risks relating to getting a tattoo (blood-borne diseases e.g. HIV and Hepatitis). But, so long as you go to a reputable tattoo artist, you have nothing to fear. Strict procedures are followed for sterilisation and ensuring that you never come into contact with anything contaminated by another customer's blood.
You need to check locally regarding giving blood, as the specific details vary from place to place, but generally you can donate again after a waiting period - often 1 year.
In terms of colours, I'm not sure what you're asking when you ask if colours are 'better or worse'. From a health point of view, it seems that it's slightly more likely for people to experience reactions to red ink (e.g. low-level allergic reaction), although this isn't common, by any means. There are also some question marks over UV ink. From the point of view of how well the tattoo lasts and how good it looks, white ink isn't particularly reliable and many artists ony use it to highlight. Aesthetically speaking, whatever colours you want are best!
Hope this helps!

Done effectively by way of a official, there are only a few wellbeing dangers related to tattoos. Infection because the tattoo heals and hypersensitivity to the ink are regularly the worst, and are very infrequent. You can get an epidural when you've got a cut down again tattoo. There is not any conclusive proof that it poses any variety of chance. It's a kind of city legends that springs up each as soon as in a even as. There is not any truly change medically among color and black. it is only a topic of private prefrence. There is a ready interval upon getting a tattoo to provide blood. It varies among three months to 1 12 months. Call your nearby Red Cross to discover out ready instances on your discipline

Ok to address all your questions...
1. Giving blood - must wait 1 year after getting your tattoo per the American Cross
2. epidural when in labor - my cousin is anesthisiologist (the doctor that administers the epidural) - she said that some doctors will and some won't....the main concern of the doctor believe it or not is that they do not want to be held liable should your tattoo get messed up in any way. There is no medical harm done in having an epidural if you have a tattoo.
3. There are no better or worse colors....it's really a matter of preference

tattoos are neither healthy or unhealthy unless you go to a dirty shop. you can not give blood for a year after you get a tattoo. no it is NOT true that women cant have the shot if they have a tattoo on there lower back. they can still get the pain killer shot in there back.
color or black and white tattoos are totally up to you. if you like one rather than the other than it is your choice

i wouldn't consider tattoos to be healthy or unhealthy they are neither. they are just a decoration. is dying your hair healthy?
you should check with your local blood donation center about frequencey of donations. some places have a 6 month waiting period some 12 and some 18 months. it all depends.
it is definitely NOT true that women can't get an epidural when they have a back tattoo, here is a link from the mayo clinic http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0geu8CP5yhGrXAASYVXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTE2b2tnNDVjBGNvbG8DZQRsA1dTMQRwb3MDMQRzZWMDc3IEdnRpZANNMDAxXzg5/SIG=12e5nmrk7/EXP=1177172239/**http%3a//www.mayoclinic.com/health/lower-back-tattoo/AN01357
and as far as color goes, i prefer it to black tattoos. some people are allergic to some colors of ink and form a rash and itching and take much longer to heal. i have heard of allergies to red and green but there may be other color allergies too. something to watch out for if you tend to be allergic to things.
hope that helped.

I don't know about the pregnancy-related question, but as long as the equipment is sterile, I don't think you need to worry about tattoos being unhealthy. As for giving blood, I believe the guidelines for the Red Cross is no blood donations for one year after geting a tattoo.
