I"ve had 5 concussions and have trouble remembering the words I'd normally use. I "forget" simple words, especially during job interviews: cooperate, coordinate, extrapolate, convenient; or people's names that I KNOW I know - like my best friend's or even my husbands! I'm blowing interviews like crazy and I need another job...

Aphasia, particularly amnemonic aphasia or amnestic aphasia.

Aphasia is a defect in the power of expression through speech, writing or other signs of comprehension, usually due to disease or injury of certain brain centers.

Amnemonic aphasia is the forgetfulness of words.

Amnestic aphasia is the inability to remember words.

You didn't mention if you have had a medical workup for this condition. Given your history of concussions, you should see a neurologist first. The neurologist may recommend you see a speech pathologist or speech therapist.

dysarthria means difficulty speaking, like if your words come out all mumbled.

aphasia means inability to speak. typically, you know what you want to say but are unable to verbalize it.
