God must have wanted him to exist since he created him knowing what he would do.

If he's a rebel, why did God create him knowing what he would do? Or is God not omniscient? Maybe he didn't know.

That is a tuff theological ? Satan was created as a holy Angel his swelling of pride made him fall. I do not think God created Satan to be the evil of the world. I believe Satan thinks he has power, but remember he had no power over Jesus and had to ask to get to Job. If we take our Bible for more than a story and truly stand on the word then Satan is given no power. Since we do know he exists and uses us, God uses that which is intended for evil for the Greater of Heaven.
God must have needed A figure such as Satan to keep us close to him and give us that desire for better, if everything here was good than why would we ever want to be good do right to go to heaven.
Some answers only God has, I only know to place my LOVE and TRUST in the LORD.

God made Good and Evil...They are called angels or consciousness...One is Good the other Evil...The evil conscience have been name Satan to distinguish him to the good conscience called Angel. Satan is not a rebel because he really is there from the beginning of time to represent and have an understanding of what is the opposite of good. If there is no evil God will never be able to explain or let humans know how it is to be good or what is good per se.
I would agree with you in making him a tool and he is not angel who rebelled against God. You are talking about Lucifer who is a man and not an angel. If ever he was addressed as God's Cherubim, it was because God chose him for a mission to help his own people back to God but instead of bringing them back he boasted about being equal with God until lately this world have been mistakenly taking him and God the same and One. www.thename.ph

Here's something to consider:
According to your religion, only humans have free will. Angels do not. Therefore, Lucifer could not have rebelled unless he had been designed to do so. I think the Satan figure is supposed to have been a way for the Christian God to test humanity; Lucifer is not trying to destroy or undermine God, he's just doing his job.

At least, this is how I read it. The fall from Heaven isn't included in the Bible, so I had to go with various Gnostic & 'heretical' accounts for this one.

Dear MeatBot...:

God does not err, and He created a perfect universe. Love demands reciprocation, and because God is wonderful, perfect, all-knowing, and demands respect, He created beings with the capability of appreciating His benevolence.

Sin orininated with Lucifer (light bearer) who exalted himself and wanted glory as a Creator, but he was just an angel--a created being.

He wanted a Democratic Society, you know how that works, lie about your opponent enough and you will get elected.

Heaven will not be that way, God is completely trustworthy, and our eternal security will depend on us appreciating that fact.

Tell me, if you wanted love, would you record a messge that says "I LOVE YOU" to repeat all day? Or would you want people to appreciate you for your good qualities.

Clavary forever settles the lies that Satan has told the universe about God--you may want to serve the Devil, but for me and my house, we shall serve the LORD.

Thanks for asking, One-Way

GOD uses the negative to bring about the positive part of HIS plan.

Satan is the rod that GOD will use to bring back His children.
Satan is the "rod of Correction".

Exd 7:12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods.

Satan will bring all into his one world religious beast system Rev 13:11.

Psa 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Psa 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

Satan is both.

No detail can escape the plans of an omniscient, omnipotent God. Satan doubtlessly thinks himself clever and defiant, which just proves how great a fool he really is.

As are all who follow Satan.

He did want him to exist. He created him, and just like us allowed him to make a choice to serve him or not. We all have a choice to make, we are not robots. Satan is not in a little red costume with horns and a pitch fork. He was a beautiful angel, who wanted to challenge God.....well he loses as it is written.

Jesus is Lord

And (remember) when We said to the angels; "Prostrate to Adam." So they prostrated except Iblees (Satan). He was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblees) and his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimoon (polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc). (Qur'an 18:50)

In order to have meaning, anything has to have an opposite. Otherwise, it's like a white Colley in a snow storm. If there's God, there has to be a devil.

Figurative or literal? Who knows. It works either way.

I think it's some of both. Satan rebelled, and God used it to his advantage. Please note that I do not claim to have the answers, I'm just going on what I believe.
