If the adult were intelligent, they would never believe it.
That's why missionaries in 3rd world countries exchange food & medicine for "being saved".

Who's been witnessing to you? Satan? Read 1 Peter 3:10-12 and tell me how to see good days rather than bad days BEFORE DIE. Read John 15:7 and tell me how to receive what I ask from the Lord BEFORE I DIE. Imagine being healed of diabetes, cancer, arthritis, hepatitis C, tumors, right now on earth long before Christians die.
So now how long would it take to convince someone that the Word of God works just like it is written if it were working for you? Not long. Alan Ballou www.thehealingbook.com

And that, Dear Riegan, is where the argument falls apart.
"Convince"
I thought people "chose" to receive the love of Jesus.
Convince has the definite ring of Bullying, or perhaps, a more serious type of violating, one that takes place without consent, a horrendous crime, usually perpetrated against women, but I need not go on.
The problem with "witnessing" is that there's a fine line between illustrating the point and making, tattoo-like, indelible.
Christianity, if it were up to me, I'd make sure it was only practised by the licenced.
That way the innocent wouldn't get hurt.
Fun chatting with you again!

Recreate the conditions of the Roman Empire, where people had little real control over their daily lives. Tell them that suffering here will be rewarded in the hereafter. Force them to work longer hours for less money in worse conditions. Tell them that what is good in their lives isn't enough. Take away their hope that society can get better.
Sounds a lot like the U.S. today.

I wouldn't follow a religion where any rewards were the only reason to follow - whether they came in this life or after death.
That is the weakness of westernized christianity - it promises heaven or prosperity, missing out on the joy that is to follow the God who gave it.
We are in danger of exchanging the creator for the created.

If they were stupid, quickly. If they have a functioning brain, never. You said it all...
"you must have faith that he exists without concrete proof, and your rewards for living by his rules were only available to you after death?"
No right minded person will go for that. And, I have swamp land to sell to ya!!!

Well, for someone like me who possesses the ability to think for myself, it would take you an eternity to convince me of that. For the weak minded it does not take that long, just look at the religious believers you can tell them anything and they will believe it no matter how illogical it is. So why would you want to convince someone to believe in a fairy tale? Why not try to convince them in Santa or the Tooth Fairy, instead?

Depends on how gullible that person was. You could also, probably, convince him/her of ghosts, goblins, vampires, witches, wizards, trolls, astrology, UFO's, and much much more.
