Yep, it's a myth. The British Air Force put it out during WW 2 to explain why their pilots could find targets so well so that the invention of Radar would remain undetected.
As a person with vision damage due to a disease, I can tell you that my doctor is hopeful of studies using both lutiene (already in some vitamins) and Omega 3. He encourages me to continue on both of these to prevent further damage. People who ate salmon twice a week appear to have much less incidence of macular degeneration than those that don't, but fish oil pills should have a similar effect. Another thing that seems to help is once a day for 30-60 minutes, place your palms over your eyes and rest. The heat from your hands rests your eyes more effectively. It actually cured my astigma in one eye, although I have no idea how it works. My sister tried it and actually had to replace her lenses with a less strong prescription.
Smoking has been found to increase the rates of macular degeneration in older people, even if they have quit. So quitting smoking is a good idea.

My cat adored carrots and brocholli! This sounds gross I realize, however one Xmas we located her consuming the left over brocholli from the kitchen part. Naughty kitty - closed kitchen door always after that! Was certain to deliver her slightly of carrot and brocholli every week regardless that!

Yes it improves your night vision because it has vitamin A. I don't think it's a dramatic difference though.
Other than that, don't know. I don't think there is anything else.

I think it's a myth. If you eat too much tough, you turn orange (NO MYTH!) but we are talking like a 10 pounds a day I guess...
