The most extreme reaction I guess is really the tisk, tisk and head shaking from my parents and in-laws whenever I come home with more ink. I really ignore everything else, but I do notice when I walk places in public (especially with my son! DEGENERATE!! THE TATTOOED PEOPLE ARE BREEDING!!!!!!) mothers of young children tend to shy away from me and cover their children's eyes. NO THEY ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS!!!!! @$$holes

I haven't had my big tattoo long enough to get a lot of reaction yet from strangers, except for the managers at the grocery store - they wanted to know the meaning behind it and commented how beautiful it was. That was even before the fill in. People who know me love it but are still shocked that I have them because I am a very small person. So having something larger on my back is surprising. I have very long black hair so even if I'm wearing a tank top it isn't extremely noticeable. I actually kind of like the shock factor :)

i get a couple of reactions on my tattoos: 1. shocked at how huge my back tattoo is (it currently covers the top half of my back, soon it will be a full back piece) i think they are surprised that such a petite "normal" looking girl could have such a huge tattoo.
2. they are awed at the art involved in the tattoo. i get so many varied reactions from people because the only tattoos they ever see are small flash. i think the majority of people don't realize what a tattoo CAN be if you have the right artist.
actually at a tattoo convention last month i was talking to a tattooer and the guy he was tattooing and they asked to see my tattoo, i showed them and the guy getting tattooed said "wow, i thought you were a nice girl"
since when do tattooed people stereotype their own kind?
so i asked him if he lives in a trailer and if he enjoyed his job as a truck driver. he was confused for a minute but then it sunk in. stupid stereotypes.

LOL! Well, it actually came from my boyfriend. I had been telling him for about two months that my homegirl and I were going to get matching tattoos on our girl parts(not the term I used when talking with him;)!) Anyhoo, when he asked where, I pointed a little to the side, but still on the front, cuz originally, that is what we were thinking. When we actually went to get inked, we decided on something a little bit bigger and ended up getting them just above the line of the labia majora.
When I got home and showed it to him, he was TICKED-not because he didn't like the tattoo, but because I was "showing some other dude" "HIS" "p*ssy"...Now, mind you, I had been telling him for a month that we had been planning it for a month even before I had told him! So two months have gone by! I said, "Look, sweety, I mean no disrespect, but what part of 'Missi and I are getting our [slang term for girl part] tattooed' did you not understand? And also, when an artist is inking, they are thinking about the art, not the part. I did not pull my pants down so he could see every nook and cranny of your stuff." After a little while, and the reserved sigh, he apologized for flying off the handle a little too much, and he has grown to really, really, really like his "Thick JUICY Sexy" cherries....Heehee.

before i start i want to state im covered in tats full sleves the lot
i have had a mixture of reactions several positive but some negative (only from tattoo haiters) and i have experienced all sorts of problems with getting jobs but i now have decided to be a tattoo artist i am now enjoying my apprentichip in tattooing and i never regret any of my tats
i have had people in bars and the street just come up to me and ask me about my tats and compliment me on my art
but sometimes i see people stairing out of i presume jellousy and spite and whisper to the person next to them coments which im shure i would be better off not hearing about my art this usually happens on a red hot day when i dont whear a t-shirt and you cant see my skin for tattooes i have found it is usually old women who usually give me strange looks and scowl probably because they dont understand modern art and they are old fassioned and strangley enough seem offended
probably the most extreme reaction was about a week ago i was topless on a red hot day and i had a bunch of 8 year olds who asked me for my autograph thinking i was michel scofield on prison break ...... bless em i didnt know what to say
the thing i have learnt is the people who compliment me understand the world of tattooing and are deeply imagianative people and are usually really nice people
the tattoo haiters who are usually very shallow minded are not worth knowing and anyone with tattooes must never get offended or take in anything these shallow minded haites say

Well, I never really saw myself as conservative-looking but I guess other people view me that way now. As a rebellious teen, people weren't shocked about my tattoos but now that I am in a professional environment, people think of me differently. So when they see my tattoos (out of the professional environment), they are quite shocked. I often hear them saying to me, "gee, I thought you were a nice woman" or "wow, where did that come from?"
All my tattoos are hidden under clothes most of the time.

Probably one of the following:
I was chatting with a friend over some linux kernel issues and he found my 360 with pictures of my ink. I couldn't get him back on track, he kept asking how long it took, curious about the pain involved, talked on & on about how he had thought about it previously & might now stop procrastinating... anything but that ^(*&)*(&!! stupid problem.
Was at a bellydancing friends' place and asked to see the current state of work (had just gotten the dragon-koi finished). I took off my shirt, showed & talked a bit, and then put my shirt back on. Her & another friend said "We're not done looking!", pulling my shirt back off again. I took that as a compliment. :)
No negative reactions so far, but I do live in an unusual area.

well i mostly get a positive reaction from my tattoos, but the other week i went to the swimming baths and a guy just looked at my arm, and then looked at me and gave me the dirty est look ever. i dont see why people think it is a bad thing, as it is an extention of that person and shows their personality.

My Dad's face the first time he found out I had tattoos. He was at a resturant I went out to eat at. I had on a small tank top so you could see three of them. My husband and I pulled up on our Harleys and went in and he was standing inside the door waiting on me. He just had the look of "shock" and " i am so dissapointed in you". He did not say anything, just walked out. Now when he sees them it does not bother him at all. I guess it was just a first reaction thing.
