I recently had to quit drinking for medical reasons and the coke doesnt taste as good without scotch in, or the tonic without the vodka in it etc... Plus I like to feel 'slightly' buzzed. I have tried smoking, its ok, but just makes me sleepy. Any ideas? (APART FROM GET HIGH ON LIFE!) :)

How about something with ginger ale in it?
Try pineapple juice with ginger ale. Crushed ice, then the juice and ginger ale to taste. With a sprig of mint.

You can try drinking non-alcoholic beverages that are similar to alcoholic ones, like mocktails. It's easy, just make drinks that has the same ingredients as cocktails, but take the alcohol out, and maybe substitute them with sprite, ginger-ale, or even club soda.

Good luck!!

It depends whether your talking about a substitute for gatherings and parties or good old fashioned crave cruncher? For parties mixing juices and sodas etc. makes for a great fake drink but to crunch a craving I recommend good old fashioned strength and other activities or non-alcoholic beer. Also, a good amount of sleep every night [if you can].

I am a recovering alcoholic that's been sober for 10months now and whenever I'm feeling a particular "craving" for alcohol, I make what I've coined "the fakey drink".
It's Sprite with a splash of orange juice and grapefruit juice. It's got the tanginess, the bitterness and the fizz of a fruity vodka drink and honestly tastes like it's got alcohol in it, though it's totally non-alcoholic and tastes good too!

I recently stopped drinking also, because I got tired of it making me sick. I drink coffee now, and it gives me a boost. Try to take up a hobbie to keep your mind off of it. It's been almost 4 months for me, and I have not had the urge to drink. I think it will be harder for me in the summer though. I used to like sitting on my porch in the evening and having a few, while listening to music. But I guess I have to replace it with water and soft drinks. Try iced tea, gatorade, energy drinks (they will give you a buzz, just don't overdue it).
