Hi, I'm Spanish, and that phrase isn't so strong in a colloquial environment.
Anyway it may be better to use 'No fastidies' or the most polite 'No me digas'.
PS. It's the same (in this context) to say 'No jodas' or 'No me jodas', and I use both everyday, so it isn't so strong. Of course we are talking about Spain, people of some other Spanish speaker countries will be shocked if you say that... ;o)

Don't fuc* with, like you wouldn't know" Is very strong if the people that are talking don't know each other, in the other hand isn't that strong if they know each other. Depends of the accent used by the person who said it.
When you say "no jodas" there are 2 meanings: 1) When someone, who's your friend is making you an story and you are incredulous about or you may not believe and 2) when someone isn't your friend is telling you something you don't care for, may be the person is your friend you say it, but you still not caring on. but you don't say it in the same hard tone as you do with a person who isn't your real friend and you don't feel the same estimation for him/her.
For the person who thumbed us, the Latin speaker, it seems you don't belong to any Hispanic country, becuse the maning I, and my fellow Hispanis speaker, is the right one, so, "no me jodas" and don't talk about something you don't know. "Mamao/mamalona"= sucker.

It means "Don't fcuk with me"
In some regions/countries (for example, my parents country, Colombia) it's not really vulgar, but rather just impolite (i.e. you wouldn't say it in a meeting). For Central Americans, on the other hand, it is extremely vulgar.
Sometimes people say "no joda!" when they hear something they find hard to believe, kind of like when Americans sometimes say "You're sh!tting me!"

En mi pais "Joder" significa "molestar". "No me estes jodiendo" quere decir "No me molestes o deja de molestar.
Estar Jodido quiere decir que esta amolado, acabado, pobre o sin dinero. Esta palabra es muy comun y puede ser pronunciada segun la ocasion o con quien se esta dirigiendo la conversacion.

Like esther c says it is very common in Spain, but only in Spain.
I was shocked when I heard it here in Spain being used in such a regular basis.
In almost all Latin American countries it is a very strong and vulgar word. Never use it ouside Spain.

No me jodas can have different meanings, depending
on location.
In Mexico it is extremely vulgar and means
"Don't f*ck me". In other parts, it's much
milder and means something like
"Quit bugging me". I wouldn't use in ordinary
conversation at any rate.
I had a friend from Latin America who
used this phrase with Mexican people
and really made them angry!
BTW "Jodido" is used for f**kin" as in
Me voy pa' chante jodido = I'm goin' f**kin' home.
(Chante = Mexican slang for casa. It's
like English shanty.)
