For example-do you refuse to believe that scientists taught us that the earth is round? How about the solar system that I wouldn't imagine was in the bible due to lack of telescopic equipment-do you believe that is there?Or is that the work of the evil scientists as well? Do you use hospitals for medical care-if so, why trust medicinal science that progressed (like everything else) over the years?

"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth." This would include the solar system. Were there no heavens and Earth, there would be no science. Wake up"

hahahahahahahaahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahaha
Somebody wrote that before the advent od modern science!!! DO you believe everything you read?

I am not putting science down. Constant updating is necessary as new things are discovered. However, as I stated at first...God does not change therefore needs no updating.

Doesn't it occur to you that many many backward beliefs were around at that time? Why is the belief of a god the only one that you don't laugh at now as I am sure the rest we all would? You're telling me one book written by MAN is evidence for this crazy idea??Oh you are aren't you...

Hi I am a Christian, A disiplined student of
the manuscripts; I love the Sciences. They are the most fascinating studies ever. I know that there is a group of people who call themselves "creationists" and say the Bible states this earth is about 6000 years old. They are Biblically illiterate, period. The Bible states no such thing. In fact, it does state that the earth is countless eons and eons old, and there was an entire earth age before this one. There is no controversy between the true Word of God, and true
science. None at all. The wonderful, dedicated work of the world's scientists should be celebrated, not fought with. There is no need for a person to jump on either the Bible bandwagon or the science bandwagon; they are partners, not enemies.
To your question: I know the earth is round, and I'm real happy about it, because that means we don't have to fall off the edge (!)
and no telescope was required of God in the Book of Job to talk about the solar system; the medical sciences are known to
me in that I was a paramedic for years -
and you know that the Apostle Luke was a medical doctor, right?
So understand that nobody needs to update the Word of God. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, and His Word is the same as well; no need for updates; its not God that changes, but man.
Anyway, its spring here in PA today - we are gonna go up to 70 with lots of sunshine,
so I'm gonna go outside and repot some
plants; have a great day,

Jan

Why trust medical science for liposuction when your friend with a vacuum cleaner is just as good? The Earth is not flat, by the way, the Earth is a hollow cube, and we live on the inside of it. The solar system does not exist, either. The solar system is a horrible anthrax minefield constructed by Hitler during World War 2 to kill the people of Mongolia.

God does not need to be updated. He is constant and his rules and desires do not change.

Unfortunately, when our society finds themselves uncomfortable or condemned by their actions according to scripture, the first thing they want to do is update or change what God has said or done.

In every instance, when a change was to be made by God, He informed mankind well ahead of time through prophecy. He does not wait until the moment and then suddenly change directions based on new information as does science.

I am not putting science down. Constant updating is necessary as new things are discovered. However, as I stated at first...God does not change therefore needs no updating.

Just wanted to say -great question!!. Reminds me of Richard Dawkins proposing that we would not want even the most brilliant scientists from 1000 or 100 years ago to lecture us on science. Yet people accept the religious rantings of 2000 years ago, no matter how much evidence contradicts them.

Astral navigation is older than 2000 years, as if net making, so I suppose I can continue to go night fishing in the old fashioned way and not feel too bad.

Way to sidestep an answer.

Isn't it ironic that everything else seems to have developed over that period of time to the betterment of humanity, except for literalist Christianity which seems to have taken the retrograde step and become the church of Hate?

It is not the fault of Christians, or other religions, that they cannot update their ancient texts. They are not allowed to challenge their texts, and since the texts are very vague and imprecise, they will be stuck with them until the end of days, which it seems that they hope arrives sooner than later.

please research more on Faiths and those who believe in them next time you feel like asking a question like this. i'm sorry to be so frank, but by asking this, you are not pointing our our (Catholics and Christians) ignorance but your own.

just because we believe in something that science cannot prove or disprove, it doesn't mean we don't believe any single thing that science has proved in the past 2000 years.

I am updated, but I will never update what God says in his word. Jesus said I change not.

2 Peter 1:16

We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
