Yes. The Bible talks about not putting on outward ordamentations.
Read Genesis 35:1-2. Here we find Jacob preparing to dedicate his family to God. However ther are "strange gods" among his family. That's breaking the first commandment. Verses 3-4 will tell what the stangs gods are. The rings in their hand and earrings in their ears! Why was this? You see, God created the gold, silver, pearls, and diamonds - heaven is full of beautiful jewels. However, when sin entered our world, we find that pride and selfishness ruled the hearts of men. People began to adorn themselves with the beautiful things God had created to draw attention to the outward self. Human pride became more important than inner beauty. So God called the outward adorning a strange god, for it draws attention to self rather than God.
Read 1 Peter 3:4. God does have ordaments He wants us to wear, "a meek and quiet spirit." God says that's priceless!
You see, the devil has this all twisted. We pay lots of money for jewels, tattoo's, etc. and it's a source of pride designed to draw attention to self. God's ornaments are inward, the meek and quiet spirit, the love, and joy that come from withing, the smile and kindness that emanates from a true Christian. This leads people to see Jesus in us, not the world. And such ornamentation is priceless.
Anything that draws someone attention to you is a sin. What ever you do to draw others attention towards Jesus is our Christian duty.

it might nicely be, relies upon on the man, i think. The word 'sin' comes from the Greek word 'santos' which wisely potential 'to omit the mark', or to make a screw up. maximum persons use the time period loosely, without being attentive to that's beginning. i love my ink. i'm contained in the employer, and performance extra or less sixty hours on me. For me, that's no longer a mistake. for someone who used undesirable judgment. and were given something stupid that they now be apologetic about, all of it proper may be. i have were given a chum who's an Orthodox Jew, and tattoos are prohibited via Mosaic regulation, similar to eating any animal with cloven hooves, or with no backbone, or shaving, or operating between sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath. he's an fairly hip guy, even if the concept of a tattoo, for him, is amazingly repulsive. For him, i think it truly is a sin, or an fairly undesirable mistake.

No, it is not a sin.
The Bible says not to make marks on yourself in honor of the dead. This is because it was a pagan ritual to mark you body when a loved one died in order to appease the gods so that they'd accept your loved one.
The sin is if your tattoo is to appease false gods and participate in pagan rituals. Just having a tattoo is not a sin.

The Old Testament law commanded the Israelites, “Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:28). So, even though believers today are not under the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15), the fact that there was a command against tattoos should cause us to question. The New Testament does not say anything about whether a believer should or should not get a tattoo.
In relation to tattoos and body piercings, a good test is to determine whether we can honestly, in good conscience, ask God to bless and use the particular activity for His own good purposes. "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31). The Bible does not command against tattoos or body piercings, but it also does not give us any reason to believe God would have us get tattoos or body piercings.
Another issue to consider is modesty. The Bible instructs us to dress modestly (1 Timothy 2:9). One aspect of dressing modestly is making sure everything that should be covered by clothing is adequately covered. However, the essential meaning of modesty is not drawing attention to yourself. People who dress modestly dress in such a way that they do not draw attention to themselves. Tattoos and body piercings most definitely draw attention. In this sense, tattoos and body piercings are not modest.
An important Scriptural principle on issues that the Bible does not specifically address is that if there is room for doubt as to whether it pleases God, then it is best to not engage in that activity. "For whatsoever is not of faith is sin" (Romans 14:23). We need to remember that our bodies, as well as our souls, have been redeemed and belong to God. Although 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 does not directly apply to tattoos or body piercings, it does give us a principle, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." This great truth should have a real bearing on what we do and where we go with our bodies. If our bodies belong to God, we should make sure we have His clear "permission" before we "mark it up" with tattoos or body piercings.

For all those that say it IS a sin due to altering your body, I offer an introspective look on boob jobs, makeup, and even pierced ears. If you wear earrings and still think tattoos are a "sin," then you are a hypocrite.
Besides, sin is a Christian concept invented to mentally punish anyone that doesn't conform. So in a sense, NOTHING is a sin.

Sin is a concept of many religions. I personally don't care for tattoos but if a person really wants to get one, please be sure the parlor follows strict sanitation guidelines. Best to you ;-)=

I'm an Atheist so my views are going to be radically different, but I'm pretty sure that if you believe God loves you, he isn't going to banish you to Hell for getting a tattoo. I don't think it's a sin to get a tattoo, because if it is, a hell of a lot of people are going to be sent to Hell for their decisions.
It's your body and you're welcome to do as you wish. Don't let someone tell you "OMG, I THINK IT'S UGLY! DON'T GET IT!" and change your mind. If you want it - go for it.

for health point of view.. it is a sin,, making tattoo will cause infection and lead to skin diseases..
for religious point of view,, it is not allowed because that what bible said..
for scientific point of view.. making tattoos will effect the skin (skin is the protective barrier of the body) to perform less function as the cells begins to die due to toxic colouring dyes..
for teenagers point of view.. of course ! why not? if u wanna looked pretty its not a big deal.. is u like it than do it.. why not take a crazy chance?
for my point of view.. tattoing is plain stupid.. having a painful process juz to color themself is useless. people who tatoo themself (especially guys) juz wan to looked brave n cool but most of girls attracted to only wise n loving man.. not a stupid coloured man!
