depending on ur genetic make-up, you may or may not be "normal".
One of the possible reasons for the loss of hair might be due to lack of nutrition. Eating a healthy diet would help if it's due to this.
Another possible reason may be stress and/or lack of sleep. Adequate rest is important, not just for ur hair, but for ur health as well.
BTW, important things to note to determine if it is "normal" to loose hair:
1. long hair or short hair?
if your hair is long and u have a tendency to tie it up tightly, that might be the reason. Or, if your hair is long and oily, the excess weight caused by the oil pulls on your roots, causing the hair to fall off. A remedy is to wash your hair often, and not tie it too tightly.
2.any chemical treatments to your hair?
some people have a more sensitive scalp compared to others. Certain types of treatments may result in hair loss. For example, i did rebonding a couple years back, and after that, i kept loosing hair. So, being young and rash and heck-care-attitude, i shaved my head..gave my scalp time to recover. It worked. =p
The best thing to do though, is still to see a trichologist. He'll be able to help you solve your problems.

Like receding? As we get older, even women, our hair tends to naturally thin. But at your age of twenty nine, I wouldn't think it would start to do that. It usually doesn't start until menopause. Things that can cause hair to thin are stress, chemicals you put in hair, medications, and also PCOS. That is short for polycystic ovarian syndrome.

It isn't exactly normal, but could be somewhat expected if you have a family history (mother, sisters, aunts) of thinning hair, or if you take meds, or are pregnant or recently had a baby.
Or, if your diet was insufficient in certain minerals/vitamins it could affect your hair too.

Oh! Check your doctor because for what I know, if you have falling hair and your hair is becoming thinner, you might have cancer but I'm not sure because I didn't even saw you. But let others know about it for them to ask other people if what's happening to you. It's not normal!.
