Depends on what you want it for and what software you want to install on it. Windows is compatible with more software. With Macintosh, you run into less software errors.

I'd say Windows as with Macintosh you have compatibility issues with major software and the face Macintosh can only be run on Apple Machines which are costly to buy and fix.

With Windows it can be installed on any system (even some apple computers). It is compatible with alot of major software and with a Windows system the parts are easy to get a hold of.

Without knowing what you need to do on the computer, making a decision is almost impossible. If all you will do is check email, browse the web, and some homework, then either system will work for you. If you require specific applications, see which OS supports more of the applications that you expect to use.

Worth noting is Apple's BootCamp which allows run MS Windows on Mac.

Windows xp (not vista)

Vista is to incompatiable at the moment and macs are s**t. Nothing works on macs they are way over priced and cant be upgraded. Never ever buy a mac

dont get vista though because in 2011 i think there is a new windows coming out.
