There are two differing conceptions of democracy prevailing today - which one do you subscribe to?

Conception 1) A democratic society is one in which the public has the means to participate in some meaningful way in the management of their own affairs and the means of information are open and free.

Conception 2) The public are basically stupid and must be barred from managing their own affairs and the means of information must be kept narrowly and rigidly controlled..... they ought to be deprived of any kind of organisation, because organisation just causes trouble. Their only role should be to sit in front of the TV and having drilled into their heads the message, which says - the only value in life is to have more commodities or live like that rich American middle-class family you're watching and to have nice values like harmony and Americanism. That's all there is in life.

"The adoption of democracy is fatal to good government, to liberty, to law and order, to respect for authority, and to religion, and must produce chaos from which a NEW WORLD tyranny will arise. You can never have revolution in order to establish a democracy. You must have democracy in order to have a revolution" ― Robert Welch - Republics and Democracies pg. 7

The drive of the Rockefellers and their allies is to create a one-world government combining supercapitalism and Communism under the same tent, all under their control.... Do I mean conspiracy? Yes I do. I am convinced there is such a plot, international in scope, generations old in planning, and incredibly evil in intent." -- Congressman Larry P. McDonald, 1976

Although I understand what you are saying, I can not fully subscribe to either of the concepts of democracy that you indicate.

The second is obviously biased against an organized governmental structure (even though much of what is said is true)

Although my preference would obviously be the first concept, it is however incomplete in its scope. Along with the basic right of individuals to help to control their own lives also comes a tremendous responsibility to be accountable to all of society, not merely to our own wishes. This is often a very difficult position when your own wishes are not what is in the long run good for society in general.

The core of any healthy democracy is when the citizens can look beyond themselves and their own personal ideals for the benefit of the greater good for all. This is not a political but a moral calculator of the success of any governmental system...democracy in particular. Today unfortunately, we have a large number of groups of individuals that are focused only on their personal agendas without regard to the whole. (I am speaking of both sides of any major issue)

Just as communism was good in theory but not practised right, democracy is good in theory but also hasn't worked. It hasn't worked because it's your conception 2 of democracy which has been put into place, which I gave you a star for. Politricks is just theatre which is a smokescreen to hide how many countries are really being governed. We don't have to give our power over to the hidden hand, we can free our minds.
