another urban legend.. is that kids use to get busted in cali (and everywhere) but ya.. after school for smokin.. so theyd wait till 4:20 when the police shifts would take place and theyd smoke by the railroad tracks..

I've heard tons of urban legends about this and I don't know what's true and what's false.
First, I heard that 420 is the police code for possession of marijuana.
Then I heard that April 20 was the date of the biggest drug bust in the country back in the 60s. It was at the height of the Hippie movement in Haight Ashbury and the police like shook everybody down.
I also heard another one that said during a bust in the 60s in Haight Ashbury, the police confiscated a total of over 420 pounds of pot in that neighborhood. This story does not specifically take place on April 20, though.
