Seroxat can increase the risk of suicide for some people, but for many more it helps people to feel less anxious and/or depressed. It is a recognized treatment for depression.
It is just like headache pills. Read their side-effects - you will see that they list 'causing headaches' as a side-effect!
1. Don't worry too much, all medication can have side-effects.
2. If you feel more like killing yourself or self-harming when you take these pills, them go back to to your doctor and change the medication.
3. Remember, however you feel, that the medication might be causing your feelings. Try not to act impulsively, and tgry to keep a bit of distance between how you feel and how you think.

Seroxat sux - ask your doctor to prescribe Citalopram or Escitalopram instead. The side effects aren't as severe and the suicidal feelings aren't really there either.
Seroxat is an awful drug!

because he's an idiot!!
I know A LOT about them and wouldn't take them unless you really have to. They DO help with depression but are extremely powerful and have nasty side affects.
Also, coming off of them can be extremely hard and cause suicidal thoughts.
A small dose may by helpful (upto 20mg) If you been prescribed 30Mg plus, I'd be extremely careful.
If you want to email me off thread you can. Seriously, I know a lot about them.
Good luck
PS - Suicidal thoughts are exactly that - thoughts! You CAN train your mind to think differently about life

No GP would do this deliberately. Not unless his name was Shipman or Hannibal Lecter.

Yes. We all hate you so we had a party and didn't invite you so we could discuss ways to get rid of you. This seemed like the best plan. Damn it, back to the drawing board...
