As everyone says, they probably already know, but on the off chance they DON'T know, you could:

-say, "excuse you"
-laugh. Hopefully they'll understand that you're laughing at them, but others may think you were laughing at nothing in particular.
-tell them in a secret code
-tell them, but whisper
-yell out, "SOMEONE farted"
-not worry about telling them, and just get on with your life
-not worry about embarrassing them, and announce it to the world

Why should you have to tell them? Don't they know? and if it is done in your company then simply let them know how rude they are. THEY should be embarrassed for putting you through such unpleasantness.

The only exception to this will be if the person is incapable of controlling themselves and in that case you would just have to bear with it.

Umm... I don't think you need to tell them. They should know if they're passing gas, and you just pointing it our would just embarrass them.

don't. just take it that you're inhaling oxygen with a tad bit of unpleasant nasty ammonia gas and let it pass. passing gas is nothing to be ashamed of but its not something you would like to shout out to the world.

Well, I'm sure they know what's happened, but if you want the polite response (via Miss Manners), you should ignore it and continue as if nothing happened. It's a natural bodily function that is simply uncontrollable every now and then.

Um, usually people know when they are passing gas. If they don't, they're so oblivious that I doubt you could embarrass them no matter what you said!

If you're embarrassed by it, say "I'm sorry, it just has to come out." It usually breaks the tension and people ignore it afterwards.

Trust me they know they are passing gas the best thing you could do is to say you think you could say excuse me behind that.

You don't. If they're passing gas, they're already aware of it, and probably are pretty embarrased about it already and hoping nobody says anything.

You don't. This is none of your business. You are supposed to politely pretend that nothing happened.

If you say or do anything, or if you require the "culprit" to, you are being extremely rude.
