wow. blisters. They can be a real hinderance.

First, contact a good dermatologist. What's happening is that the connective tissues between the layors of your skin are being stressed. In truth, no amount of applied goo - like superglue or NuSkin, etc. will speed-heal the stress between your skin layors.

There are some things you can do to help releive the stress:

For the most part the only thing is to break your practice times into short bits - 30 min or so - several times a day rather than one marathon session. That gives the connective tissues time to regroup and keep your skin on your fingers - not in your strings.

Finally, you can try applying a liquid bandage. Some good things are Superglue, NewSkin, Tincture of Benzoin (at the pharmacy) or Tincture of Propolis (available from a bee keeper). Let all of these liquids dry thoroughly to act as a protectorant. Tincture of Benzoin especially promotes skin healing/development. Propolis is a natural product collected by bees.

But practicing in short bits helps the most.

I would think it's not possible to play the bass without getting blisters. What a great instrument!

u didn't say which hand is getting the blisters ... i am assuming it is the right hand (picking hand) .... you really just have to tough it out until callouses develop .... and STOP PLAYING before the blisters develop or you'll just continue that cycle
