Not at all here are some more threats
there is Global warming as well

many predictions are for the years between 2012 and 2020
Nostradamus,the mayas ,Egyptians Jesus ,

and Terrance Mckennas time wave who put the magnetic output of the world into a computor projection that stopped at zero in 2012,this means the globe has stopped and it starts turning
the other way ,the resulting change of currents will turn the planet into a giant washing machine cleaning the surface

then there are the meteors storms (armageddon) ,the gulf of Mexico is the result of one that would have made life exstinct for a while ,this would result in an other ice age because globe gets covered in dust for a few years, blocking out the sun.

then there are more posible natural disasters
Volcanos are coming to life everywhere
the weather has giant storms like hurricanes ,tornados ,tidal waves ,earth quackes

a shift of the earth crust ,would change the position of the poles
under Anrarctica were found fosilized tropical plants indication the pole must have been in a different place then (the mainland atlantis is thought to be under it )

Apart from that , the biggest threat to any species of exstinction is ,when there are too little ,and when there are too many ,so overpopulation is also a threat

and the USA appears to be gunning for a global nuclear conflict .it is most likely that this will get us first ,looking at present politics

the planet will probably survive unless humanities bombs result it to be knocked out of its orbit

so many ends to choose from
if it wasnt so serious it would be rediculous

meanwhile enjoy life .and make the most of it at least we are all in the same boat

It was the biggest threat of the 1970's, everyone was convinced that we were going into an ice age. It was the scientific "consensus", government panels were created to study this threat, no credible person disagreed or so they said.
Now we have global warming, the response is exactly the same except replace cooling with warming, and freezing with melting.

As Al Gore would say: are those two connected?
Yes they are, the earth goes through cycles and we are living through a small part of one. Don't get sucked in Global warming is nothing more than media hype.

Heres my prediction the year is 2020, Al Gore who's like 100 years old comes out with a movie called "An Inconvenient Truth 2" in which he preaches about global cooling. Then in 2120 Al Gore who's somehow still alive comes out with "An Inconvenient Truth 3" and preaches about global warming......

the cycle continues

The idea that a lot of scientists supported "Global Cooling" in the 70s is just wrong.

They were more similar to the global warming skeptics of today; a few guys with a theory, and very little data to back it up. No major scientific organizations said it was a proven problem (almost all now agree that global warming is real and mostly caused by us). More details here:

Global Cooling, Global Warming, terrorists -none of these are as much of a threat as the media. Regardless of what it is, wouldn't you want it to be reported accurately and without being sensationalized? And don't forget that in addition to all our other problems we now have bees that are losing their navigation abilities because of cell phones. Two days before this was reported, researchers were saying the research they'd done on this problem showed the bees were suffering from high levels of infection - something was affecting their immune systems. But now it's cell phones and bee's navigation. Tell me that story wasn't sensationalized to scare us.

No, I don't think so. We have the technology today to survive cold periods. We would have to use a lot more energy if an ice age started again though. I don't see that happening any time soon though.
