Depending on a person's stability and mentality, gambling can be a fun recreation or be a life ruiner. I love to gamble at poker or maybe the slots, but not much else. Some people take it to the extreme, I take it to a level of fun. Have I ever went a little too far? Sure, we all think the BIG win is right under the next card, but I know my limitations and know when to walk away. Not that I don't look back at the fun, I just keep walking in the opposite direction. Gambling is like walking on a fence, one side of the fence is fantastic and the other, pure Hell! You just have know how to balance so that you lean towards the fantastic side more than not!

it can be an absolutely fantastic bit of fun for most of the adult population, but there is a dark side. there is a growing number of "compulsive gamblers" or gambling addicts in the uk which are being totally ignored by the government, the new gaming act which was pushed thrugh, although no one wanted it , will create far greater problems than anyone could have imagined. i personally think there will be an epidemic of gambling addicts over the next few years. but we should remember that most of the country CAN walk away when losing.

I partake in casin gambling from time to time but as of recently I have come to realise that it is addictive & its really a bad thing. I haven't been to a casino in over 6 months & I hope I never go back.

I think if you are doing it for amusement only then its fine but then I can think of a million other things which could be much more amusing than losing your money.

I view it as an issue of freedom. In a free society if a corporation wants to open a casino they should be allowed to. And in the same free society legal adults should be allowed to go gamble there.

Clearly it has to be regulated and controlled to keep things safe and above board. But generally I have no problem with gambling.

Anyone who whines about the harm it can do should remember that cars kill people, guns kill people, alcohol kills people, smoking kills people, junk food kills people. You can't just ban everything with the potential to harm people. With gambling some people will spend money they can't afford and hurt themselves financially. Well sorry, that's the price of freedom. I don't want to live in a nanny state that tries to 'protect' me by removing all my rights and making a bunch of decisions for me.

Gambling is something that if you enjoy it you should do it in moderation. It is alot of fun and for me it is very exciting when I walk into a casino. You just have to be very careful and have a little self control.
