I bought adobe premier 2.0 (editing software) the other day and i'm having trouble adding effects such as fade out and in to my movie clips. Can someone help me?

If you are using A/B editing, make sure the clips overlap (that is, one clip's ending 3 seconds covers the next clip's beginning 3 seconds (or however long works for you). Then, you drag the transition between the overlapping areas.

If you simply want to fade to black, you need to add a piece of black video after the last clip as if it were a 'real' video clip, then transition from your clip to the black video... There may also be an option (right click on your video clip) to simply 'fade to black').
