I am a Catholic lesbian woman, and have chosen to live a celibate lifestyle. Does anyone know of any Catholic ministries in the St. Louis, MO area specifically for homosexual people? I'm open to all serious answers. Please do not respond by telling me that I have no place in the Church, because I am fully aware of Church teaching on sexuality, and I am not engaging in any act which would run contrary to that teaching. On the flipside, please do not tell me that the Church is causing me to repress who I truly am, or that I am brainwashed--this is a personal decision and is not forced--and I do respect those who have chosen a path different from my own. Having said that, any resources would be greatly appreciated :)

Also important to note: I'm looking for a safe place where I will be accepted as I am. Not looking to be "cured."

As long as you are using the gft of your sexuality as God intended- in your case living celibately as you said- you are fine with the Catholic Church and may receive the Eucharist.

Same sex attraction is not a sin, sex outside of marriage- straight or gay IS a sin. So you are choosing well!

Check out COURAGE- it is a Catholic group for those with same sex attraction.

Bless you!

Oh how sad. Have you the testimony of Jesus? To please the Father and not self. God is not happy that you are a lesbian it is a sin and no gay person should lead a ministry because that is not what God ordained. You will lead the people astray, you need to check yourself and realize that this is but saddening to God o how your thought process will be different. If you continue this you will need to take an account for this in judgment day.

If you do not find any ministries dealing with the subject matter at hand, why not start one?

You might want to speak with the bishop in your diocese. I doubt you will actually get to speak to the bishop himself, but surely there will be someone there who could tell you where you could hook up with the sort of support group you are looking for. If by chance there is no such ministry available, you might want to consider starting one yourself.
