Yes. Many doctors (including mine) suggest ALL women get the new vaccine, whether they have HPV or not.

If a woman already has HPV it won't cure her of it, but it can possibly prevent her from contracting a kind of HPV she doesn't already have. The vaccine protects against 4 different kinds of HPV (two known to cause about 70% of cervical cancer and two known to cause about 90% of genital warts). Say, for example, a young girl only has one kind of HPV that the vaccine prevents. Theoretically, if she gets the vaccine, she'll be protected from contracting the other 3 kinds of HPV that the vaccine protects against.

I am planning on getting the new vaccine next month (I was suppose to get it yesterday but unfortunately had to cancel). I know it won't cure my HPV, but if I can prevent possibly contracting a kind of HPV I don't already have then I will.

Gardasil will not cure HPV.
If you have the PV strand which is in the vaccine then no it will ot help yet if you don't it may be adviseable to get the vaccne to help from contracting another strand of HPC.

It would help, but it only helps the other strands you haven't contracted. My ob/gyn suggested Guardasil to me because I have a family history of cancer. I just got my first shot two weeks ago. It hurt, but it sure beats cervical cancer. Talk with your doctor. She/He will discuss the right options for YOU.

Yes, it would only help against certain strands, and not sure which one you have. Also, it's only for women less that 36.
