Wait a minute. Why is a 'little own weird groups???' None of my friends are vegetarian, and the only reason I'd like to go t a group or anything like that is to learn more and help people. I myself am I vegetarian, and I don't consider myself better than anyone. It's a personal choice, and I don't think I'm superior to any meat-eater. But so, you shouldn't make vegetarians be inferior and make them sound all stuck up.

And to answer your question, the reason there is a subcategory is coz if it were in the food category, and someone wanted to ask a question about vegetarianism, people like you would be complaining about them clobbering up your food section. So if you don't wanna read it, don't click it! And if you have a complaint to make, Yahoo can always help with that!! =P

Well, I think that vegetarians have a different section and have our own little "group" because vegetarianism is more than just foods we eat v/s foods we don't eat.
Being a veggie is a lifestyle. We have many challenges when going to the grocery store, restaurants, parties, weddings, etc. because we live in a country that is obsessed with meat. We just feel more comfortable asking other people who go through the same things we do.

Its not fair to put all vegetarians into the same label - that's like racism.
I personally am vegetarian not for any noble reason of being kind to animals or because I believe carnivores are wrong.

I am vegetarian (for 15 years) because I feel healthier, I look better, and I have more energy than I did when I ate meat.
I haven't had a cold for over 4 years, I haven't needed to see a doctor for anything in 10 years. I have more energy and am more productive and creative than people half my age. I look 15 years younger than my age.

So before you label any group negatively, realize that in any group of people with common interests you will find all kinds of motivations and reasons for that interest. And you will find conservatives and radicals everywhere.

We don't choose it this way. Its your lot that keeps us here and forces us to band together. Just like another group like a christian or someone who is into paganism or alternative medicine.
Food is not just food. We put cr**p into our bodies all the time and that's not good. We don't think about what it is we eat. Most people shovel anything down their neck. We are just people who have decided to do something different. Just like someone who cant eat certain foods like peanuts!!
Why ostracize us for that?
Why abuse us for that?
Why criticize us for that?
I DO NOT think I am special but someone who is poor, in a bad situation right now and trying to eat and live right the way I WANT TO.
If I got/read less abuse by other people on Yahoo then I wouldn't just come onto this board. If you want to know something serious about us vegi's/vegans then ask a sensible Q!! and not abuse us. Then you might find we are more friendly.

Vegetarians are the minority. If this was an alternate universe then Carnivores would be the one's with the special group. only 4% of Ameicans are vegetarians so it's hard to get answers from most people who eat animal products.

Because, no matter where vegetarians are, they get criticized for their choices (just like any other group of people that have opinions that aren't exactly "normal" according to everyone else.)
Even in here, meat-eaters drop by to leave little rude comments. So why not give us a place to talk to other vegans and vegetarians? What exactly is wrong with that?
So in your eyes no one has the right to have some place where they can talk with other people like them??? But I bet you have no problem with specific places for people who want to talk about their own religion... Why are we so different?
And by the way... it is VEGETARIAN. It is at the top of the page, I mean how could you mess that up?...

Maybe cause we get excited to find someone else like us.
Cause every time a meat eater finds out we're vegetarian they ask us why and tell us how stupid it is. And how animals were made for eating.
How do you know that, God?
It just simply doesn't make sense to me that you have to wrestle an animal down and kill it to eat it. Specially if there are substitutions for it. Give the poor things a break.

It's not really logical to ask us this since
Yahoo administrators set this section
up. You "beef" is with them not the veggies..

Why would we want to go into a food section
where we have to constantly read comments
about carcasses being dismembered,
disemboweled, etc? Do you think this sounds
appealing to a veggie?

I don't know what you mean! Vegetarians can do whatever they want to, right? There is just not as many vegetarians as there are meat-eaters and so we have to stick together. Isn't that understandable?
I don't want to be offensive but some things just freak me out!

This is the vegetarian section so what do you expect us to discuss here? I did not label myself..I am what I am..a vegetarian. Someone obviously needs to address his anger issues huh?
