Here is a basic list of specific HPV types. Over 100 HPV have been identified. 30+ are found in the genital area. Of these 30 HPV types doctors/researchers put them in two categories. Low risk the HPV types that are not found in cancer and are associated with genital warts most common low risk HPV types are 6 and 11. The high risk categories are the HPV types if untreated can cause cancers.
There is no approved HPV test that can identify which HPV types we carry. An HPV test only screens for 13 high risk HPV types. www.thehpvtest.com. At the present time specific HPV type testing is only done in research.
Roche has asked the FDA for an approval of an HPV that will be able to be more specific to which HPV types we carry.
