I just posted a question askin about conspiracy in christianity via the Da Vinci Code! And alot of the answers said its false the bible is right....blah blah blah! Now the true qestion is are you geting defensive?? Do you believe the bible and that it is all true just because you have never been told other wise? Its a book just like any other book that people wrote and edited! So what makes it so credible? What facts do we have besides a very old book and the words of people saying so? Do people believe just because they believe that they have to have some thing to believe in.....

i have been many other things besides christian and with that and because of those things i believe differnetly than alot do... i believe that the truth lies somewhere between creationism and darwins theory of evolution, i belive in the mysticall things most because of my experiances in life not because of what i was raised with or how.. i lived my own reasearch, in no way am i religous and i like to think of things having a pretty good idea for none will know for sure until the fatefull day itself. i believe that the bible is a book like all others and critical to who is telling the story just like all human history and the child hood game telephone, things get lost in translation and over the years things werent added to the bible but are we really to think that back in the day christ would kiss mary magdelene and not be married ( surely back then they would of been killed on the spot for what they considered adultry ) we must take things into context jesus is the son of god but was also the son of man and was of flesh... did he not bleed like man did when the slodiers slashed thru his skin with whips ? why cant the divine be a man to if he was born into humanity and died like a man would? but his spirit was divine inside him and that is something completely different from ones soul and body... his spirit was that of Gods Only Son :)
just like who is to say this prophet to the muslims wasnt also our christ... he did have many names and jsut because that specific one isnt in the current books of the bible doesnt mean it wasnt in one of the books that the "church" didnt want in the "new" version did he no go out into the middle east around the same time and is there holy book reall all that different from the book of proverbs?
the shurch did control things back in the day too much and that very thing is what made our forefathers flee to the americas to escape that tyrant behavior and now things are leading abck to that have and open heart people come on...
just like some people like to go around condemning those who are gay yet they themselves swear cheat still lie and covet things they cant have, they are no better than what they are calling the gay community... like jesus him self said let him who is with out sin cast the first stone... do people think that these words toward the gay communities arent stones of hate and rage?
people now adays are too williing to follow a wolf in sheeps clothing to look at the bigger picture and the possible question for all answers being right under their noses... fo some will doubt these things because it is too simple to fathom when we were taught things always have a deeper meaning, why does this too mean that if somethings answer was found quicky and easily it has little meaning or relevance...i beg to differ !!!
i aaplaud you in this hun! have your own mind and make your choices the divinci code never denied the fact that there was no god just that man covered up alot of his life fearing it would in turn leave him with les creadability where in my case i see him as more real than ever because of things brought forth... there are so many htings left from the bible for it scared the church into thinking they will lose control of hte people which in those days even the church had more power than kings....
how to you think that the whole god bless you thing came about when someone sneezed... people its time to wake up reasearch for yuor self and find your own answers quit being sheep that follow a wolf in sheeps clothing and see the truth
science have proved several things so far from the bible, but the other answers to life may still get proven science doesnt discredit the bible it makes it more real and more alive :)
its proof that the truly faithful didnt need but helped:)
people dont believe something just to have something to believe in if this were tru than the churches would be over run with people trying to get in esp in a time like this if anything there has been more and more back sliders
why b/c th church sees fit to sugar coat things and who is gonna stay and try to figure things out for themsleves if all they are fed is junk....
if you were to give a man on a plane a life vest and tell him that it will make him more comfortable on his flight he will fight withthe life jacket entirely but if yuo give it to him and explain he needs it to save his life and thats it iminient that he do so he will wear it with out complaint and be comfortable in it
faith isnt about having something to believe in its about actually believeing in goodness and love with out having to have physicall proof and not wanting physicall proof. trusting in your self and your own beliefs...
religous people will tell you other wise im sure, just like all traditions are good neither is a religeous spirit.. its better to just have a good idea of life and the hereafter. purposes and calling to your life and living a just fruitful loving life
for just as much as god is vengeful he is luving and merciful and thats a good way to be
BALANCED :)
i agree with you on some levels and think that many people are jsut as dumb with spirituality as they are politics and both can be very corrupt but its in us to find the truths and make up our own mind its called free will and i will always have more respect for those who do that than those who blindly follow :)

Yeah I'm sick of all this religious talk but some people are very narrow minded when it comes to this. What you are asking is kind of like asking us Christians to describe how salt tastes. Good and Savory are the only good words that come to mind.
The bible is the same way. True the bible is written by people, there are many contridictions in it, and it is currently not provable. But there truths in it that are much more inspiring and deep than can be described.
If you want to take a different approach than just just blind believing and bible glorifying, Look at it this way, if god is there and he wants you to believe something he will let you know. However god is a busy person, you must seek him out. Challenge the bible to god. Ask him if he is really there and if the bible is true with an open mind.
Until we've checked every corner of the universe for a god, there is no way of knowing if he exists or not. That is why faith is so important to Christians like me and why we will keep on believing.

No, I was an agnostic who had never read the Bible or gone to church except for a wedding for about the first 40 years of my life. The Da Vinci code says that it's a work of fiction and I believe that much about it. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit of God carried the human authors along as they wrote the Scriptures and I believe that too.
Not because that's what I've been told but because God called me out of my old life and gave me the gift of faith and because the Bible has been under attack for hundreds of years and no one has ever been able to find anything in it that they can prove to be wrong. That's pretty amazing isn't it? A book written by 40 different human authors from about 1500BC to 95AD and no one has found a factual error in it for almost 2000 years.

Tell your mom that you're aware you might not have the disorder (no matter how many symptoms you have, only a professional can make a diagnosis) but whether or not you do, you have a lot of symptoms that are bothering you and you want to get help for. Parents take self-diagnoses with a grain of salt because of how often they're inaccurate. So instead of presenting the potential disorder as the problem, present the symptoms as the problem.

When the DaVinci code came out I studied, like I always do to see if it had any validity.
I found that the author made amateurish mistakes that genuine historians would never make. I discovered that the tour guides for the Louvre knew more about the subject than Dan Brown did.
For your first question, no, i believe because I experienced the profound love and transformation that Jesus Christ has for me. And I have been experiencing it for the past 30 years, I have been utterly and completely transformed by knowing Him. I am smarter, healthier, more self-actualized and starting a second career at almost 50 so that I can help others become more emotionally healthy like myself.

The De Vinci Code helped open a lot of minds for the first time in a long time. The ole church was quick however to dispute it. They however have never ever proved that the bible is real.
How can an organization immediately call something false when they have yet to prove there own beliefs.
It's time for organized mind control religion to go. It has long overstayed it's welcome.

You have asked an excellent Philosophical question.
The answer is "yes" it is "true" that a person's belief's are pretty much dependent upon where they are born/raised... i.e. the country they are born in, etc...etc...
If i was born in the middle east it is most likely that i would be Muslim.
This is just a generalized and broad answer of course and again all philosophical to those who are hoppin' to the thumbs down....

Wow!
Maybe we should start by finding out why you are so angry.
If you don't want to believe, that's ok, but to put people on the defensive by ridiculing the basis for their beliefs, and then asking if they're "geting (sic) defensive" is baiting them.
If you want to have a credible exchange of ideas - great, but this is neither credible, nor an exchange of ideas. It's you ranting and raging.
God bless.

You are aware there is a differenc between ficion and non-fiction, aren't you? The Da Vinci Code is fiction and the Bible is not. Believing the Da Vinci Code is like Scientology people believing L. Ron Hubbard's science fiction.

Actually both contain mythology. But the stories still work ... if you want to believe.
Religion is Culture. Spirituality? A little something different.
It's always OK to question. If you can't question your own God, who can you question?
