My Question regarding "Independent Thinking" by JW's was deleted due to JW's crying/whining. Yet in the answer section they accused Christians of condoning all sorts of immoral behavior. How come WE dont "run to mommy crying" when the dialogue gets heavy and THEY do. You know who they are. Initials: P.B. / A / I / Is this how you guys dialogue? When you cant come up with a decent answer, you complain to Y/A? You guys SAW the answers AND my comments. Now come on, is THAT what you call a PERSONAL attack? Special note to "P. B." : What a Baby you are. "I'm an old man and nobody cares about my opinion anymore (boo-hoo)" . Why dont you GROW UP? Be a MAN!

To Nacho B: Honey, I questioned their belief system and unquestioning acceptance of the W.T. I did not attach THEM personally. In case you havnt noticed, thats what people do in this section. Sure it can get "rough" but thats part of the "give & take" of open debate.

To Mrs N: I am NOT making an assumption. They TOLD me they were reporting it. And if you were able to read the original q&a you would see that there was NOTHING in there that warranted that. Just disagreement.

To Grnlow: No, my question was not about why you use Bible refs to prove your point. I quoted Watchtower Articles about how JW's were NOT to use "independent thinking" in using the Bible. I gave Publishing Dates and Pg numbers in my question. I then commented on the answers. (Most of which would NOT comment on the quotes). Also, your assumption that people disagree with the WT because they only believe what they have been TOLD about the Bible, is in error. I myself, and many other Christians I know, can refute WT doctrine just by Scripture alone. It is not that hard. I have found that when you get a JW off of the 20-30 "proof" texts that the Watchtower has provided them with to justify their doctrines, most JW's really do NOT know very much about the Bible. They are lost when taken to different portions of Scripture that the WT HASNT "prepared" them for.

To Papa Bear: I am not just talking about my questions. And no, Mine does NOT still show. Its GONE. If you think I'm making this up, just ask the other Christians who have got THEIR questions deleted by you guys. You know who they are. You are the person who "cried and whined" and got it deleted. Sheesh, what a baby! Now if you want to take THAT as a "personal attack", BE MY GUEST.

To Papa Bear/Reply II....What diff does it make if the question is "greyed out" or not. Its been REMOVED. Neither the Question or the Answers can be accessed anymore. Its GONE for all practical purposes. All because you guys do not want folks to see that you had NO answer to the Watchtower telling you that you are NOT to think for YOURSELF. Beside that, you told ME in an email that you were DISFELLOWSHIPPED. So why would you even care what the WT thinks? Apparently, Im not the only one who finds you a bit disingenuious.

Dear Berean,
I don't know why.
I just know that they do.
On a related note I just noticed that yet another question I answered regarding 1914 and FALSE prophecies was removed. Now it takes me two hands to count the number of questions that I've seen removed regarding this subject.
Perhaps those who seek to get questions removed should have to give 10 of their own points to each person who answered the removed question.
I'm sorry that I can't give you any more of an answer than that.

I am one who did not even know your question existed before. "Independent thinking" I will assume to be questioning why we use Bible references to prove our points.
That is because one man's opinion is no better than anothers. When you ask a question about Christian beliefs or values or God should you not use the source authority?
If you had a question about medicine where would you go? A guy at the local garbage dump or a hospital?
The moon will not transform into green cheese no matter how many people say it is. The same is true about true Christianity. It will not change to our way of thinking no matter how much we try. It is us who must change to God's way of thinking. Man has tried to invent all manner of so called "christian" beliefs co-opting many pagan beliefs for there own satisfaction.
To find truth, we need to go to the Bible and read for ourselves to make sure that is what it says. People today accept what they are told is from the Bible. Unfortunately, much of it is lies. You know it is lies when they can't prove it is in the Bible or the Bible contradicts the lie.
Finding the truth is hard work. It is independent thinking at the highest level. It means not accepting the majority opinion no matter how popular without proof.
As to Mark's comment above about persecution, JWs were in the Nazi death camps along with the Jews. The only thing is-- we could have gotten out simply with saluting Hitler and giving up our faith. No one did. We were there till the end. Funny thing. There were more coming out than went in!

Firstly I am getting kinda tired of people getting their questions removed, and then blaming a group of people for it. If specific people said I am reporting you, and you were reported and then the MODs decided that it was in violation and removed it, then fine, blame the ones reported, blame the MODs, and if you feel up to it, read the reason the MODs give for the removal, but why blame a group of people for your Q being removed. So far I have had 1 Q removed, 1 comment removed, and 1 answer removed. I know of 1 person who reported the comment, because he/she said so. Still I checked and it turns out, they were right, my comment was a violation. The question was as well. I still disagree about the answer, but oh well. Move on.
As for the comment about stifling opinions. If someone has something removed on here, according to the rules of Y!A it is removed because of a violation. I have had people mention reporting me for answers that were not in violation, and ya know what, they are still here.
Did I like the way you worded your question? No, I thought it was rude and shortsided. Did I report it? No, as far as I know it violated no rules, clearly I was wrong since it was removed.
There is one poster who currently has several "questions" up that are short statements with NO question to them. I reported them, they are still here. Clearly it is not a matter of someone having a different idea and getting booted. Even if it was some sort of conspiracy, whether or not something is removed is decided by Y!A's MODs. So technicly if you think someone is stifling you, it would be them.
I have no problem with people politely stating their beliefs or asking a question. I report cursing, posting a Q that is a statement, posting an answer, that in no way attempts to answer the question, and recently I reported it when someone made threats against another member.
PS PB claims to be a former Witness.

I believe it is because the Watchtower Tract and Bible Society (the head of the JW's) has worked to make them feel isolated and picked on by most of society and in particular Christians. They have done this mostly by beliefs that are non-biblical and very different. Some examples are, no military service, no blood transfusions, their own bible, not celebrating Christs birth or resurrection, etc. This is a common technique used by cults to isolate their followers. I believe the reason that they do this is because the leaders know that their beliefs will not stand up to close scrutiny. As far as their salvation is concerned these issues are non issues but they do help isolate them and they become defensive.

The last time I checked, violation reports were anonymous. You are making an assumption.
How could we possibly hope to stifle others' opinions? That is absurd. The best we can hope for is to share our beliefs with as many people as possible. The decision is up to the individual.

They reckon that they are the truth and reading any other opinion is tantamount to reading pornography. They also read the commands in the Bible about unity and redefine that word the way the rest of us define "uniformity" -Think the same, act the same, dress pretty much the same.

Checking your question history, you've posted 11 questions with none deleted. Deleted questions are grayed out, but still show. So, what are you talking about? Or, are you just copying what someone else has said, whose question history also shows no deletions?
Doesn't the Bible also say something about declaring false witness?

You've got issues. You attack their beliefs and they got upset...what would you expect? If you want just try it again on another day but hopefully with a little more tact.

...because the Watchtower told them that they are hated because they are the true Christians....so they look on every comment as hate and slander.... even when it comes from people like us who are genuinely CONCERNED for their salvation.....

*****ps to grnlow - you said:
"To find truth, we need to go to the Bible and read for ourselves to make sure that is what it says. People today accept what they are told is from the Bible. Unfortunately, much of it is lies. You know it is lies when they can't prove it is in the Bible or the Bible contradicts the lie."
You should really try that sometime.....without the watchtower's influence...read the Bible....you will see where the lie is.... God Bless!

Because they think their right and your wrong so instead of listening to another point of view they usually just leave. With so many different religions in the world how can everyone else be wrong?
