First of all let me just start by saying I am not blasting anyone's religions or their beliefs. This is after all a question/answer site. So I am just curious as to how we as people can believe about someone that we have never seen. I was on another site today and this individual was getting blasted because he was tired of people quoting religion. Not everyone believes in God or Jesus. If there was a God or Jesus why is there so much madness in this world. So just because he suffered - we have to suffer as well. Is there an afterlife - who has been there and returned to let us know that it really exists? Who has seen this God or Jesus?

there is no such thing. there are thousands of religions, how can some people think thiers are right?, considering 90% have thier religions picked for them by geographical coincidence. There is no proof for the existence of god, everything that has ever happened in all time can be explained scientifically, socially, culturaly, and geographically. People only beleive in religion because of the propaganda they have lived with thier whole lives.

Early religion tried to explain the world by giving powerful forces a name. Thus, the lightning became Zeus, or Odin. People eventually called on their gods for help defeating their enemies, and identified other religions as rivals against their god, and thusly their power and status

While Chrisitanity has many virtues its practicioners like to quote the old testament more than what Christ said. Plus there is the power and status issue. The first commandment is "You shall have no other gods before me." Notice it doesn't say there are no other gods; it says you cannot hold any other god in more reverence. Now Christians are fond of calling him the one, true god.

As to anyone now alive having seen God or Jesus, that is FAITH. One of the beattitudes says "Blessed are those who have not seen, and still believe." However, most believers faith is shaky, and anyone who asks a question they cannot answer will be attacked. These believers have built their reality around their faith, and if you disturb their sense of reality you threaten their mental stability.

Ultimately, everyone is subjected to brainwashing from their birth that defines not only right and wrong, but predjudices against those who differ in any way from them. Religion has been used to justify the genocide of Native Americans, and enslavement of Africans. It is currently used to justify predjudice against homosexuals, and outspoken women among many others.

We are now - I believe in 'The Latter Days"

This exact subject is spoken of in the Bible - I use KJV. I see this also and I find it sad. People should Love Each other - That what Jesus Himself said.

I will admit that I have only been on this Internet for about two weeks - this time - Our former DELL computer was stolen and we had to replace with a used - from a Christian Friend of ours who owns a Tremendous Computer Store! He IS Microsoft Certified and Knows Every Operating System and Programing - Has a Masters in Computer Science - Very Pleasant. I am running MS Windows XP Pro SP4+ - the Last one released before Vista.

I want Peace in this world - However with what happened April 16th in Virginia and here April 1st with 2 Very Much Beloved Police Officer Friends being Murdered - Not even being able to pull their weapons! - Jeff Shelton and Sean Clark. Both Christian's - Both married. Jeff and his wife just moved in to their first house that they owned. They were gong to start a family - Now that will never happen. Sean's wife is going to have his second son in June - little Sean Jr. will never have the opportunity to know his father! The man (Damitris Watson) is facing the 'Death Penalty' - Thank God!

There IS a lot of Hate out there and it's sad/wrong/unGodly!s Need I say more.

Be at peace.

Take Care and God Bless!

Please take time to read this article about why there's much suffering (madness).

http://www.watchtower.org/e/20010515/article_01.htm

----

No one has actually seen God, His power/magnitude is too much for a person to comprehend...but Jesus is the image of the invisible God, who is his Father (Colossians 1:15). Jesus, who was existing as a spirit in heaven, miraculously became human and showed us the qualities of his Father.

John 1:. 18 No man has seen God at any time; the only-begotten god who is in the bosom [position] with the Father is the one that has explained him.

Since, there is no afterlife, no man can return from it to tell the living about what it is like. There will be a resurrection, yes, those dead would be brought back to life but that hasnt occured yet. All those writers who gave us the testimony of Jesus' life were his witnesses.

Everyone believes in something they've never seen!

I believe that Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth. I've never seen Everest. I have never measured it and compared it with the other mountains of the world, but I believe it is there and I believe its status as the tallest is true.

Why? It comes down to someone told me or taught me that AND the evidence indicates that it is true. "Faith comes by hearing..." (Romans 10:17)

I believe in God first because I have been taught about God AND the evidence I have seen indicates that it is true!

Who has ever seen the wind? It is there, but no one can claim to have actually see it.

We might be able to see the effects of the wind on those around us or see the effects on ourselves, so therefore wind exists, not because we see it, but rather we see the effects.

We might not be able to see God, but we can see the effects God has around us and on us. We know God exsists not because we have seen him, but we can see what he has done.

As to why there is so much madness in the world, it is called sin. Jesus suffered, died and rose again, to free us from the bondage of sin. God did not promise us an easy life. There will be struggles. It is part of living in a sinful world.

Jesus=Christianity

Just one of the thousands of religions
No more proof than any of them, and as it shares the OT with the other Abrahamic religions, it actually has much less, because as anyone who knows much about anything, the OT has been absolutely ripped apart when read literally.

I have not seen God or Jesus but I believe because that is my religion. We suffer in order to make us compassionate. It is fine if you don't believe that is your choice. Good Luck and Take care

There are historical documents to show that Jesus did live. There were witnesses to His ressurection as well. As to whether He was God, which I do believe; well this is a matter of faith

Congrats you have now joined a group of people with more than a billion people in it! My view point on the religious people is it is faith and a strong hope for a better tomorrow! Anyone in the modern world who claims to have met and or talked to God is immediately put away for his own safety! Very few people know for certain that there is a God and most of them our my brothers, we deal quite a bit with the adversary, but our reasoning is if he exists then God Must Too!
