Type 1 Diabetes is just a name MDs or health workers used to refer to the type of diabetes that is Insulin Dependent and usually Juvenile in onset. Meaning, you need to have injection of insulin for it to be controlled. Usually this occurs too in younger age, but there are adult onset diabetes too. The type 2 is the non-insulin dependent and usually adult onset.
Both are not curable but can only be controlled by proper diet, exercise and drugs eg insulin or oral hypoglycemics.

A Type 1 diabetic is a person who is insulin dependant. A Type 2 diabetic is a person who controls the sickness with diet.

Type One is sometimes known as Juvenal Diabetes as it happens most frequently to children. Some think it can be caused by a virus that attacks the bodies ability to produce insulin. If you have it you (or whoever has it) will need to inject insulin after or b4 meals. Get a good Doctor.
