It's possible. Blood pressure can rise during an illness, when you are in extreme pain, as a reaction to certain allergies or foods, and even out of anxiety or fear. It is still serious and it still needs to command your full attention. If you have an allergy or a reaction to a food that can raise your blood pressure considerably, you can still experience detrimental effects up to and including a stroke, so find out what is causing this rise. The headache might be a symptom, or it might be the trigger 9along with whatever caused the headache) High blood pressure is equivilent to putting your foot on the gas pedal of you car and pushing it all the way down when the car is not in gear. It's a great way to blow up your engine, cause it to lose compression and burn oil ect. Your body can suffer the same type of consequences. Take it seriously.

YES, it's possible to have high blood pressure for the day. Look at your activity prior to taking your blood pressure. I don't believe fever, flu could cause this and a terrible headache can be caused by high blood pressure. If you're experiencing terrible headaches associated with high blood pressure, I would advise seeking medical attention..could be sign/warning of a stroke.

Meditation might help, but if he doesn't already do it, that's probably a no. Drugs such as valium, but that's going to be a bit illegal unless that's what they're prescribed for his condition. Also, I'm sure the company will do a drug test. A difference of 10 on the bottom number is going to be pretty hard to handle. Sorry. Oh! Stay away from tea (Green or any other color). Caffeine increases blood pressure. I guess he could stay away from caffeinated beverages if he drinks them, although I'm not sure 24 hours will be long enough. Plus he might end up going through withdrawal, which might temporarily increase his blood pressure. So, he's hosed.

Yes, actually your blood pressure goes up and down constantly, some days more than others. What you eat can also cause this..For example if you ate some eggs this morning and put just a little to much salt on them. You blood pressure will rise. If you have been anxious, worried or stressed can have the same effect. Even temporarily.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Your blood pressure can go up if you are stressed out for a period of time or if you get a shock. You might get a headache from high blood pressure but you can also get a high reading if you are in a lot of pain!

It is very possible to have higher blood pressure for a short period of time. Stress, nerves, illness, and a variety of other things can cause higher blood pressure temporarily. My Dad had high blood pressure (he takes meds for it now), so they make him test it every day to see how it fluctuates and it came be really high one day and really low the next.

Absolutely. In fact, you can sit down and have your blood pressure taken and have it be high, then immediately take it again and have it be low. This is especially true if you have just been exercising, or as you said, have been sick. It is best to have your blood pressure measured over a period of time, looking for tendencies and averages, rather than relying on one look.

I'd think so. Last time I was at the doctor, the nurse asked me if I had just finished a cup of coffee or cola. The caffeine could have a temporary effect on blood pressure.

Absolutely...I had a friend who could only take her blood pressure at home, because the stress of being at the doctor's office consistently made the readings very high. They were normal at home, but not at the doctor's office.
