I don't know...just naming it 'same sex schools' is asking for the problems they aim to prevent.

Most students gets distracted with the opposite sex present in same classroom. Its the nature of humans that opposite sex gets attracted to each other. So inorder to prevent this and to have full attention on Education, Some parents prefer to send their kids in Same sex school. Another reason is some religion does not allow the union of Male and Female so they have divided them into two.

The theory is that segregation allows better concentration on academic pursuits during school time, rather than chasing members of the other sex. :) It also prevents sexual discrimination, both social and institutionalised, at a school - you don't get situations where boys are valued more by the system than girls, or vice-versa, to the detriment of the other gender, and it makes incidents of sexual harassment almost non-existent, allowing precious time and resources to be focussed on education, rather than security.
I attended a single-sex private school and have also taught at a mixed-sex high school. My opinion from my experiences is that single-sex education until about 16 is a good thing; but mixed-sex education for the last two years of schooling can be beneficial to social development, in a well-supervised educational environment.

My son has just been offered a secondary (mixed school) place, and I am very pleased as he's at a mixed junior school now. I think its good for kids to go to mixed schools for the early inter-action with the opposite sex.

this is just a marketing techniques followed by some schools....Bcoz some parents want their child to study in a same sex school..they think there our baby would be free from any distractions..... Its absurd.. It will create a great attraction towards the opposite sex results in some probs....this is my personal opinion.............

Apparently girls do better academically in single-sex schools. Boys do better in mixed-sex schools.
