a Mathematician desperately trying to solve a question, utters the words that he'd sell his soul to the Devil for the answer...

The Devil comes to collect and refuses to allow the Mathematician out of bargain.
However, the Devil decides to play a game with the Mathematician and explains the rules:
He will be allowed to ask three questions to find out the extent of the Devil's abilities, he must then present a question that the Devil can't answer or a task that he can't complete. If he can do that, he will be free, although nobody has succeeded for thousands of years.

Inadvertently the Mathemetician blurts out, "Really?" and wastes his first question.

With your Soul on the line, what two questions do you ask the Devil and what impossible task do you ask the Devil to complete in order to save your soul?

10 points to the first correct answer - or for the nearest.

there must be a reason in the riddle, that this person is a Mathemetician. Maybe he asked him a simple but challanging question, something involving the world or some sort....i really dont know . but i would like to know , because searching for the answer is bugging me now LOL

Jumping to the impossible task, I'd ask to keep my soul. So, the Devil would have to comply, or he'd lose the game and would have to let me keep my soul anyway!

1. Is Fermat's last theorem correct?
2. Prove it.

These are the only answers I've ever heard to that riddle.
Hope I haven't embarrassed myself.

Simple, huh?
Okay, I'm changing my answer.

1. What is the numerical value of (or how many digits are in) pi?
2. Prove it.

this warped my brain but...how about...

first question: are you immortal? then the devil answers 'yes'
second question: do you have limitless power? then the devil answers 'yes' again.

then the impossible task: the mathematician says, 'okay prove it. kill yourself!"

either way, whether or not the devil kills himself or not, the mathematician is free.

is this right?

Don't even need to ask the questions.

Get back into heaven is what the Devil can never do.

Ask him to go back in time and give you the answer before you offered your soul to him.

its a paradox so it can not be done(assuming time is a straight line and all that jazz).

He should ask:

Can you demonstrate how to count to infinity?

While the devil's counting he can get on with his life, as his soul will always be free while the devil counts...
