Speakers are a really personal decision. Some makes will set people off and say there horrible. You are the one using them so you need to be happy. Make sure that where you buy them will let you return them. Sometimes things sound great in a show room but sound different at home. Also give you home theater a chance to impress you. I recommend high quality interconnects and power filtration systems for the very best results.

The brands you brands and models you bought or mentioned are mid-end; B&W 600 series. B&W 800 series or Paradigm Reference would be Hi-end, but upper High end would be B&W Prestige, Aerial Acoustics 20T, Wilson Sophia, Salk Sound; usually very small or some large manufacturers that make only 100 or more a year of the specific model costing $10000 and above. Both B&W and Paradigm are very good products. I still own a old set of Paradigms and they last almost 15 years, good stuff!

In regard to Onkyo is it low mid-end and the Onkyo Integra line would be mid-end. High end would be some models of Arcam, Sunfire, NAD, Denon and Rotel. Upper High end would be Mcintosh,Theta, Halcro, Anthem or Lexicon to name a few. Onkyo makes some very good products that will satisfy your price range. I bought Pioneer Elite, whcih is similar to the Onkyo Integra line.

These are my opinions on ratings, but not too far off.

Wether you choose Paradigm or B&W, is comes down to your taste in sound. I bought the B&W 604 S3 after demoing for about 4 months. Bring some of your favorite CD;s to sample the sounds and features. Dont allow them to hook up the speakers to hi-end gear, ask to listen to something in your price range.

In regard to cables check out Bluejeancables.com. You will save allot of $$$ over Monster and provide equal quality and sound. Many people with $50000 systems use them. Cables are among the worst investments to improve sound. Save the difference and buy a better model of speaker or component.

Good luck on your new system!

Hi.Always buy the speakers that sound best for you .Speakers are one of the most difficult items to buy because they all sound different.Don't let anyone pressure you into buying what they like unless you like the same one.So whatever you buy will be right for you.
Cheers.

its all personal preference its what sounds better to you. you might think a $120 pair of infinity speakers sounds better than KEF speakers of a similar size, it all depends. I personally own KEF and i would highly recomend them beuase they are stunning the amount of detail the have gives me chills.
