The books that are included in today's Bible were selected during the Council of Trent, around 1514 or so, I believe. Of those authors, Moses was historically the first. I believe he wrote the book of Job before the "first five" that he's generally credited with (Genesis, Exodus, etc.) When Jesus studied the scriptures, and read out of them when he went to synagogue on Sabbath, he was reading from the prophets (Old Testament, of course!).
Oh! Is this a trick question? Did you mean to say that God wrote his book in the hearts of men, originally? True, true!

The main Word of God before the bible was written was two tablets of stone in which the ten commandments were written. Moses was led of God to do so.

First of all the Bible is not the book of God its a man made script of poetry and philosophy written by theologians who "claim" to be inspired by God. Why do we have to read a book to believe in God ? just believe in him/her/it and live a good health, loving, compassionate, thankful life. Human beings have always mettled into religion even before monotheism. History does not lie.

Every tribe with a written language had a holy book so it's impossible to know when the first one was written.
Hindu writings predate the Bible. One such book is the Vedas.
