The old testament has 333 prophecies about the first coming of Jesus Christ and 456 specific details about his life(all written between 400 and 2000 years before he was born). The 4 gospels in the new testament(Mathew, Mark, Luke & John) tell the story of Jesus. Had those 4 gospel writers chosen to not write their gospels, we could still have re-created the whole life of Christ just from the old testament(all written before he was born). In fact, that is how the christians preached the gospel in the first 20-30 years after the death of Christ. They preached it from the old testament because the new testament had not yet been written. The story of Christ is all there in the Old Testament including some details about His life that are not even mentioned in the New Testament. I would say that's unique. He performed thousands of miracles(most of them were not even recorded[John21:25]). He was born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life. He died and rose from the dead. He ascended into heaven. He started a religion that today has 2.2 billion followers and He did it in a totally non-violent way. No one has ever done that. The closest thing we have to that is Muhammad and his 1.5 billion muslims but he and his followers spread islam with the sword. Jesus is the only founder of a religion that ever claimed to be God. You say "I don't believe a lot of those things". That's irrelevant. Showing the historical evidence for the reliability of the bible and Jesus is another argument. I'm just comparing what's been written historically about Jesus with what's been written about any other person that ever lived. Just go out and buy any volume on world history by any of the renown historians(H.G. Wells, Arnold Toynbee, Will Durant, Gibbons, ect.) and see how much space they give to Jesus compared to anybody else and you'll see what's unique about Him.

One thing unique is when he healed the blind man. There are other healers who have healed the blind, but the man Jesus healed was born blind. So Jesus had to create vision where there was never vision before. This actually turns out to be unique from the stories of all the other holy people from other sources.

Jesus is the only way of salvation because He is the only One who can pay our sin penalty (Romans 6:23). No other religion teaches the depth or seriousness of sin and its consequences. No other religion offers the infinite payment of sin that only Jesus Christ could provide. No other “religious founder” was God become man (John 1:1,14) – the only way an infinite debt could be paid. Jesus had to be God so that He could pay our debt. Jesus had to be man so He could die. Salvation is available only through faith in Jesus Christ! “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Unique? Well... Nothing.

There were plenty of other man-gods who came before him. His story is just a combination of common elements from all the others, including (but not limited to):

* being born of a virgin
* being "God" incarnate
* being a "saviour", "mediator", "lamb", "shepherd"
* being sinless
* being sacrificed
* rising from the dead
* performing miracles
* instituting "communion"
* having twelve followers
* being visited by someone special at birth
* being precocious

Frankly, I can't think of anything unique about him at all. Even the things attributed to him that cannot be proven (that is, "faith-based") are shared with others who came before him.

If you're interested in researching other such deities, here are a few to get you started (though there are a lot out there):

* Mithras
* Attis
* Dionysus
* Osiris
* Adonis (pre-Grecian)

Hope that helps. :)
