Is it possible for a citizen of a country (living and working there with no contacts in any other country) to defect (his citizenship)???

If yes, who takes responsibility of the citizen and how long will he be allowed to stay in his home country?? who would support his livelyhood?

Are there international laws that provide refuge to him?

I was watching a film in which Robin williams defected his russian nationality when he was at the States. so I was curious if someone could do that without going elsewhere., from his home country.. if he does so, would he have any refuge? where would he go if he has not already applied for citizenship elsewhere?

If I understand your question correctly, defecting and expatriating are two different things. Defecting is escaping an oppressive regime to take refuge in a safe country. Expatriating is leaving your country with no real threat to by your home country and becoming a citizen of another country. I think you can have dual citizenship or relinquish one. Not sure why you would want to pay taxes in two different place if that's how that works. Some countries are pickier about letting people in. They look for valuable skills or trades that would benefit their country. They don't want slackers. You have to looks at standard and cost of living, taxes, currency exchange rates, weather, life expectancy, crime rates. Just like if you were moving to another part of your own country. Here are few place to check out: Canada, Iceland, Costa Rica, Thailand. Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark.
