You must be from somewhere other than the US.....18 and Pub are the give aways. Here in the US drinking age is 21. We have two ways of getting proper ID here. One is to register for the military draft at age 18. The other is called "Non Driver" ID. Our New York Motor Vehicles Department will issue a Photo ID upon presentation of other valid ID such as birth certificate, passpot, etc. The non driver photo ID is easier to carry around and more excepted by "Pubs" and "Clubs" and "Bars".....P.S. If he is 18 why doesn't he have a drivers license as proof of age?

You could goto your local DMV office and request a ID card most states if you dont have a drivers license you should have an ID. However a Temporary paper ID may not work.

My son was eighteen this year and his passport is clamped to him 24 hours a day. Or there is a prove it form you can get from the PO, Off licence or Police station. Remind him not to get too blathered, the hangovers are awful and you won't be cleaning it up for him!!!

if you go into one of these pubs they mostly have an ID form, you fill it in, get someone, like a police officer or Dr to confirm the photo as being your son and confirm his age, they will send him the ID....... I think its called a Prove It ID

Due to so many companies offering dodgy id cards, the police are advising licencee's to only accept passports or driving licences. Don't waste your money on a proove it card.

Provisional license or passport or citizencard. No point carrying your birth certificate about as most places only accept photographic id.

Try calling the county clerk. They most likely issue photo ID's.
