I use Nr1 DVD ripper.
- Install Nr1 DVD Ripper
- Install Xvid Codex

The file size will depend on the duration of the movie. Usually 700mb for good quality. This process takes time though round about 3hours because it is converted frame by frame to reduce the file size.

Other software as Dr DivX is also available but I have found that Nr1 DVD ripper works the best for me.

You should convert your DVDs to DivX or XviD or WMV. After conversion a standard movies will be about 700 mb (CD-R size) instead of 5 or 9 GB (Video DVD sizes).

Try to use AVS Video Converter from AVS Video Tools http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/avs-video-tools.htm

The program is very simple. Read the step by step guide here: http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/guides/avs/video-DVD-to-AVI-DivX-XviD-WMV-MOV-RM-video.htm

You need a DVD ripper program.

It "grabs" only the video from the DVD and saves it into a video file. You can select different formats and sizes.
