For no specific reason, I haven't gotten my driver's license yet and I'm *cringe* 19. I guess I just never really cared to - honestly. So after waiting so damn long, I'm actually ... worried lol. Is it hard to drive a car (specifically in traffic)? I always worry that the person behind me is going to rear-end me at any given time. I HAVE driven a car regardless the license, and I've found that the gas peddle is so freaking sensitive. So, for example, if ever I need to merge, I worry I'll speed up too fast and drive into the next car. Anyone have any funny stories or suggestions? Thanks!

Yes it's very hard to drive a car.. It's takes a long time before you get to the point that it's second nature.
When you frist start out you have to think and watch for things like brake lights. But after few years of driving you just see them and stop without even thinking.
All you can do is keep driving and you will get better.Don't worry about the person behide you unless you're at a stop. If so then tap your brakes to warm them.(always a good idea)
Don't speed up to merge slow down and pull in slow. If you have to speed up you're asking for problems.

Don't feel embarrased...I have friends who didn't get licensed until their mid-20s.
Honestly, learning to drive is sort of a long process, but once you learn and you become experienced, it'll be second nature. The best thing to do is have someone take you out to a desolate parking lot to learn some of the basics, and so you can learn to judge the sensitivity of the accelerator (gas pedal), brakes, steering wheel, etc. Once you start feeling comfortable, then they can take you to different roads according to difficulty, so you can get more comfortable with sharing the road with others. If you have someone (like a parent or other family member) that can show you, that's great. If not, then you can get training from a professional, which can range from $200-600+, depending on your area of the country.

It is only obvious that you would be worried about driving on the road. That is because you have not learnt to drive as yet. Get a professional driving instructor to help you. I do not believe that he/she will take you out on the road the very first time. In my country we go to a large car park and drive around until they think that that you might be comfortable. They should be able to teach you everything that you need to know especially how to merge. You should be able to do the normal thing that drivers do. In my country we worry about if a big bus or truck will hit us since the roads are so small and it seems that they are coming straight at us.

It can be difficult for some people
I would suggest a professional driving school It may cost about $500. You have to be defensive while driving .. always reacting to other driver's moves. ALso ... we all make mistakes while driving and hopefully, they don't result in an accident. Once you do learn to drive a car it becomes second nature. .... very easy. You just need confidence.

The leading cause of death outside of things like heart disease, cancer and old age is car accidents. So the answer is, yes it is very hard to be safe on the roads.
The basics are not that hard. With a bit of practice you will master driving a car. When I learnt to drive a car, I practiced every weekend in a local car park with my brother. I could reverse parrallel park with my eyes shut.
Just doing enough to pass the test is not that hard, but you can also do defensive driving courses where you learn how to handle things like quick breaking, skids and so on.

you need to take the car to a country road, preferably not a winding one. this will help you get used to the pedals. they really shouldn't be so sensitive, it is probably because you are pressing too hard and don't realize it, but it is easy to drive, you just have to be calm and patient. If you are scared of something it will overwhelm you and you can actually harm yourself because your mind is focusing on fear and not the road. you can do it, face your fears and get your license.
