that it is considered child abuse to tell your kids that if they don't believe in Jesus they will go to hell?

The British psychiatists say that telling your children this will have Long term effects.
A psychiatrist was riased in a christian family and her parents told her about it too soon and she not only become an Atheist but After 40 years she still cried when she thought about it.

[If you are going to tell your kids this, PLEASE wait untill they are old enough, like 12-13!!!]

Are you serious?Hopefully anyone old enough to be a parent knows when it's time to introduce certain information to children. You don't tell your children about sex at 5 years of age either. Not telling your children about eternal matters is child abuse or neglect. Mine were both told about heaven. hell, and what it takes to go to heaven. They're 23 & 24,both Christians and completely sane productive members of society. I was traumatized that my parents told me that Santa was real and later found out that they lied.I did'nt believe in God for many years because of that. Sounded like the same story to me Magic guy who knows everything you do and can go all over the earth in one night, rewarding good and evil. Dirty rotten trick we play on kid's if you ask me.But I don't hear anyone screaming child abuse if you LIE to your kids and tell them that Santa's real.

I would hope anyone who wants to share their religion with their children would do it in an appropriate way and in terms that correspond with the age and understanding of the children. Any situation where you coerce someone to believe something or do something by scaring them or making them feel powerless is abusive, whether in a family or other group setting.

I remember reading something about her.

Wasn't it that her family were quite fierce about her indoctrination and claimed she'd go to Hell (which was quite graphically described to her) if she did anything they considered 'naughty' as well?

No one, adult or child, should have to cope with that kind of permentant mental scarring :/
