We are told to "Beware of false prophets..." Doesn't this mean there are true prophets also?

Absolutely. One of God's promises is that there will always be at least ONE messenger on the physical plane to lead those who are ready back home.

Excellent question. (And I thought there were no "new questions" here on Y!A )

We do still have prophets today, they just don't get around doing the wearing sackcloth and eating locusts thing :) And yes, you're right if the Bible warns against false prophets then that infers that there are true prophets. Most of the prophets of today are not like the prophets of the Old Testament but there are a few. One I can think of Cindy Jacobs of the Generals of Intercession and another is Rick Joyner. Both of these people have prophesied things that have come true & they both glorify God. Both of these things: accuracy & giving all glory to God are hallmarks of a true prophet. God bless

you cant compare the two togather.prophets com and go,but god is always.if you follow the scriptures, you will soon discover that god is done sending prophets....i personaly dont believe that the world we live in deserves any heads up from a prophet.or inspiration or words of wisdom or anything of that type....
now i have a question: there are some religions that have prophets,or so they say, they know who they are...when their current prophet dies..who takes over?oh i forgot..they vote a new one in. what if there is a mass death of some sort within the church and all the elders or priests die? do they just go to the alter boy for their next prophet? anyone see anyone looking into the future these days,or claiming to be the new christ?NO!

Daniel 9:24 states that after the 70 weeks were complete, visions and prophecies would be sealed up. That was accomplished in the time of Jesus' ministry. There is no new revelation. Beware of anyone saying they have received new revelation. That's what is meant when we are told to watch for false prophets.

definite, God is a similar continuously. Miracles and prophesies nonetheless take position as we talk. I actually have seen them with my own eyes. Why do such extremely some Christians no longer see or hear? quite frequently because of unbelief. even if, looking for the signal and not in any respect God is yet another conceivable reason. truly, i trust that we can be seeing further and extra of God's glory after we search for Him. Espeically contained in the most suitable days. i ought to encourage you to observe "that's supernatural" on youtube. Sid Roth is the host and that i have been to a convention there. once you've extra quesstions bout miracles and prophesies, i ought to like to speak or digital mail. it truly is interesting stuff see you later as God receives the honour.

God does have a living prophet on the Earth (and apostles also). The prophet is the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). If you are interested you can listen to him speak (and also apostles) at General Conference (which is held 2 times per year).

If you want, you also could go to www.lds.org and watch or listen to past Conferences by clicking on the link to "General Conference" (under the "Gospel Library" tab.)

He said He is the same. He did not say He does every 'thing' the same. I know there are persons who have a God given gift to understand and explain His Word.
False profits, I believe, are such as a Jim Jones or other cult types. Some people have a way of sucking people in and some people are not wise enough to heed Gods warning to beware.

The world which was yesterday was more a spiritually inclined world and it was therefore easier to access a prophet, also we may call a saint.

The world today is more inclined to materialism and it has become that much more difficult to find the true saint. But he is always there and available to those who are spiritually inclined and want to learn the basics.

The Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, is the last and final Prophet from God. His message was for ALL MANKIND! While other Prophets were only sent to their respective nations.

Why don't you read his last sermon, and decide for yourself.

O People
Lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefor listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

O People
Just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. God has forbidden you to take usury (interest); therefore all interest obligation shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity.

Beware of Satan for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People
It is true that you have certain rights in regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives, only under God's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat you women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

O People
Listen to me in earnest, worship God, say your five daily prayers (Salah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in charity (Zakat).

Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black, nor a black has any superiority over a white- except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim, which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not therefor, do injustice to yourselves.

Remember one day you will appear before God and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well therefore, O people, and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and the Sunnah (Hadith), and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listened to me directly. Be my witness, O God, that I have conveyed your message to your people."

We do have prophets, we just assume they are all false, but some are true. It takes a while to see who was right.
